Jennifer Golden Zumann, a wonderful friend and one of our leaders in the Chicago Pilates Community has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  As some of you may know, she and her husband Matt Zumann own Pilates Chicago in Edgewater. In addition to running the studio, they have four growing, very busy sons.  This Go Fund Me is to help fill in the blanks that insurance will not.   As a contractor or small business or one who gets paid per session and class: missed work means missed income. Jennifer and Matt’s journey in the next few months is going to be busy and arduous and there will be many missed sessions and classes due to the protocol for Jennifer’s recovery.  Financial help during this time will also help keep all four boys doing all of their activities without interruption.  Normalcy during this time is key.

As people who have given so much to their community, let’s reach out and help the Zumann Family as they do the work to put this disease down, continue their lives and while doing so,  help Jennifer come back healthy and strong with peace of mind.

Jennifer just started her second phase of the fight - she had a successful surgery and is now working on the recovery. The recovery will take Jennifer away from teaching. Please help cover the loss of work, if you are able. If you have already so generously given - thank you - please consider sharing this, as it is a real help in raising funds.

Cheers to the end of chemo!
I’m happy to update that I’ve made it through 6 rounds of chemo and can now put that phase of the treatment behind me. The chemo was successful and the tumors are pretty much gone and lymph nodes looking clear.

On March 15th, I will undergo a bilateral mastectomy and during that process we will learn if and what treatment will follow. As I learn more, I will continue to update.

I am tremendously grateful to all who have been helping us out; whether it was monetary, meals, childcare, prayers, or cards of loving support. We have been overwhelmed with your generosity.

All of your help and care has given me the space to heal and rejuvenate between treatments. I was even able to enjoy a few days in Southern California to shoot some videos for Pilates Anytime and indulge in lots of love and laughter with my ladies!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Love,
Jen

Hello All!
I am happy to report that yesterday I completed round 4 of 6 of chemotherapy! I know it’s going to be a long week but I’m already celebrating the empowerment of being this far along. All of my counts look great and the tumors are not even palpable anymore...success!!

I can’t thank you all enough for making this easier for me. It is a tremendous relief to not be worrying about the financial impact while I rest at home.

Love to you all!
Jen

Dear Friends and Family,

I am overwhelmed with gratitude. This has been a month of shock, fear, soul-searching, love, tears, strength, hope, and tremendous gratefulness. Your generous donations and heartfelt words relieve me of the fear of the day--to-day challenges we are facing during this process, and allow me to dedicate my energy to moving through this treatment with health and strength.

It is often said that illness is a gift, and I nearly cringe at the cliche of saying it :) However, I cannot deny that seeing your contributions come in from all facets of my life; childhood friends, family, work friends, school families, even friends of friends, has been a most cherished gift. To be brought aware of how many people care about me and my family has been a humbling reminder of how easy it can be to feel alone in the world, when truly you are not. I feel so supported, loved, and held and I thank you all from the depth of my heart.

With love and health,
Jen
