Meet Jennifer Estimé, ASPIRING OLYMPIAN TEAM HAITI -800M

Jennifer Estime, Haitian-American & native of Miami, Florida is youngest of two daughters. Her older sister, Dr. Debbie, is a chiropractor in Roswell, GA and former UM high jumper. Their father, Harold is a former avid elite soccer player in Haiti while their mother, Jeanne, is major advocate for education. Their parents instilled and molded their children's competitive drive to play sports, love for learning, and passion to encourage others.

WHY THE 800m?

As a high school trackstar, Jennifer was a dominant jumper in long jump and triple jump, and competed in the sprints and relays. As a sophomore after years of competing in cross country, she made a personal decision to transition from 400m to 800m. In 2008, she competed in 800m, jumps, and 4x400m relay to help lead Miami Southridge to 6th FHSAA 4A State Championship, under Hall of Fame Coach Sam Burley. After graduating from Miami Southridge as scholar- student athlete she attended University of Miami with scholarships in both athletics and academics.

Not Your Typical Collegiate Student-Athlete

Jennifer spent five years at University of Miami, pursuing her passions -Athletics and Architecture. She competed on the Track & Field team under head coach, Coach Amy Deem for four years and two years of Cross Country before she expired her eligibility. She began her campaign as a jumper, and transitioned over to full time middle distance runner, after a right groin injury & right hamstring sprain interrupted her progress her first two seasons as a hurricane.  As a 800m runner under the guidance of Asst. Coach Damon Griffith, she was able to run a personal best of 2:12 indoor in 2011. Jennifer spent a summer overseas in Belgium competiting and doing ministry on professional Track & Field circuit (Summer 2012). Jennifer graduated from University of Miami in 2013 with BA in Architecture.

Today Jennifer trains locally in South Florida. She has been competing for Haiti since 2014 and competed at NACAC championship in 2015 and is pushing to qualify to compete again this summer ahead of Paris Olympic Games, assuming she meets her Qualifying standard.

What Does it Take to be an Olympian?

Everyone targeting PARIS must meet IAAF Olympic A standard to qualify. In route to meeting this qualification there is alot of behind the scenes expenses involved that not everyone sees.

Funds from Gofundme campaign help JENNIFER during next 60 days towards body maintainence, sports massage, chiropractor, recovery treatment, coaching fees, travel, transportation, gas, food and nutrition specialist, lodging, etc. for travel to track meets.

Most athletes need a flexible PART TIME JOB to maintain the elite lifestyle and expenses. Jennifer is Development Project Manager - Construction.

"I just try to be where my feet are at all times. Give it 100% while I'm doing it whether that is in the oval office (Track) or in the actual office."  -JenE
