Jeanette Craig Rehabilitation Fund

$22,065 of $75,000 goal

Raised by 178 people in 18 days
Created October 1, 2018
Jeanette was involved in a very serious bus accident in South Africa. Several people were killed. She was air evacuated to a hospital in Bethlehem SA.  She sustained multiple injuries and has undergone several surgeries. She remains in the hospital and is imobile due to her injuries which include a  fractured pelvis.
She needs an air ambulance to bring her back to the USA. Regular airlines will not transport her because of the severity of her injuries.
The cost is estimated at $160,000.
While Jeanette has travel insurance it will not  cover these costs.
Please help in anyway you can so that we can bring Jeanette back to the USA for treatment.

I have been asked by GoFundMe to add some details about myself as the organizer of this campaign.

My name is Nicolas Wiseman and I live in San Diego, CA. My wife, Barbara and I are dear friends of Jeanette and we decided to launch this fundraiser in order to "Get Jeanette Home" from the South African hospital where she is currently a patient.

The funds will be used to assist in the medical transportation of Jeanette to the USA. She has no weight bearing because of the severity of her injuries and cannot use a regular airline. The funds could also be used to support Jeanette's continuing medical care in Africa.

I am the coordinator of the fund. I have no authority to withdraw funds. Funds will either be withdrawn by Jeanette herself (if she is able) or by her son, Damian Craig.

Please be assured, ALL funds will go to Jeanette.

It is almost unbelievable but Jeanette is home thanks to amazing work by her family and all your help. Our focus now is on her rehabilitation hence the name change for our campaign.
She will need many many months of specialized care .
At the moment she is in a Kaiser Hospital facility receiving excellent care and much better diagnostics.
It is our understanding that Channel 10 News TV station will do a follow up on Jeanette and if this happens we will try to get a copy to you all.
In the meantime, please note that our campaign is not over - just a name change. We still need funds to meet all of Jeanette's needs. Thank you for your continuing support.

Latest news on Jeanette.
She was admitted into the ER in San Diego and underwent a series of Xrays and an MRI. The latter revealed a pulmonary embolism which is being treated with urgency. Xrays revealed fractures to her sternum and also 2 fractures of the lower spine. They are also trying to get a better handle on the pelvic fractures
She is still being diagnosed so hopefully later today we will have news on her diagnosis and treatment.
The VERY good news is that she is home and in good hands.
At the request of the family hold off on visits for a couple of days until Jeanette is settled and she has been able to recover somewhat from the evacuation ordeal.
Thanks for your support and understanding

Here is the latest news on Jeanette at 7.00 pm Pacific Time.
She has arrived in the USA and is now in an ambulance heading for a hospital in San Diego. In general she did well on the flights but the transfers from flights were traumatic. She had a 2 man medical team from Holland looking after her the entire journey and Kylie (who called us with this information) was with her also.
Jeanette will be evaluated in hospital and then moved to whatever facility is deemed appropriate. We will let you know when we have more information.
In the meantime the family has requested that until Jeanette is comfortable there should be no visits for a few days. She is not only suffering the physical injuries but has major emotional ones too because of the accident. We will keep you informed
Thank you all of you who have helped with this complicated evacuation.
