Rice brothers lose Dad on X-mas
Brad Rice, 19 and Jordan Rice, 16, of Edmonds, WA are fighting to keep each other. Six years ago, these two brothers had to bury their Mother, after a rare, unexpected disease took her life at a young age.
However, they were still raised by a loving Father named Cory Rice who loved them both so much and never missed a sporting event with his two boys or any event for that matter. Unfortunately, on December 24, 2014, Christmas Eve, Cory passed away.
The older brother Brad recently moved back from Washington State University in Pullman, WA to attend Shoreline Community College and be closer to home. He never thought that decision he made this past summer would be one of the most important decisions he has ever made.
Younger brother Jordan spoke to his Father around 3:00 PM on Christmas Eve. Around 4:30 PM the boys arrived home to find their father asleep forever in his bedroom, peacefully resting on the bed. Regrettably, this was a sleep his Father would never awake from.
Today, Brad and Jordan are asking for your help to raise money for their cause on GoFundMe.com. Brad and Jordan will need money to pay for Cory Rice's funeral expenses at Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds, WA. In addition, Brad is seeking additional resources to help earn custody rights for his younger brother, and intends to raise him right here in Edmonds, WA. Both Brad and Jordan played basketball growing up. They understand the importance of teamwork, discipline, education, and perseverance.
Please help us let Brother Brad, raise Jordan. He will do this with the help of GoFundMe.com, working, and attending community college locally. Nobody has the right to split this family up after everything they have gone through. Help us fuse these two together, forever.

It's been awhile since I updated everyone about the boys so I thought I'll let everyone know how they're doing!
Jordan turned 17 today :) Yesterday marks 7 years as the boys Mom passed away and tomorrow marks 2 months since Cory passed away.
The brothers have been nothing but strong and supportive of each other. Every night after a long day of school, basketball and work they always
make time to have dinner with each other and talk about their day.
Jordan finished his Junior year of basketball at EWHS last week and had nothing but an outstanding season and is already talking about how excited he is for next season.
Brad has been taking a big role on having to grow up fast. He has been learning how to handle all the bills, house decisions, and looking after his little brother. He has been doing everything in his power to make sure his brother is happy.
If anyone knows a good deal on carpet and windows please let us know :)
The boys are so thankful for all of the support from this community and can't thank you enough.

Hi, Brad & Jordan...I just saw your story on my local news, then looked it up on the internet. Your story touched my heart. I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad (& your Mom). I shared it on my Facebook page - asking my friends to help, and also sent a letter to Ellen DeGeneres on your behalf. I asked her if she may be able to help you stay together and keep your house. I don't have the means to help you with this, but maybe she will. I have 2 sons (23 & 18) so I feel I can relate to you in that way. I want you to know I will keep you in my prayers for the new year.
Hello! I had seen something about these boys' situation and posted a status on Facebook to try to find a way to get in contact with them! I don't personally know this family, but I grew up in Edmonds and I heard they both play/played basketball. Is there someone close to them I can speak with? I would really like to offer them both free unlimited training in the edmonds area with our coaches...our company is called Advantage Basketball, we do camps all over the world and personal one on one training weekly, and also have select teams. I want to offer any of this to both of these boys for no charge...and a few other things!! My name is Sarah Hummel, and my phone number is 425-931-2296. All in my prayers
