Six-year-old Jazzmynn and her twin sister, Darcy, were in a terrible car wreck on March 2, 2018. The van they were riding in was T-boned at an intersection, the truck that hit them was traveling at 65 mph. Both of the girls were critically injured. They had head and trunk injuries and broken bones. Neither of them were responsive. They were life-flighted to St. Francis in Tulsa. It was there at the Children's Hospital that little Darcy succumb to her injuries.
The family did not have time to grieve because in the next room, Jazzmynn was fighting for her life. She went into surgery that night to remove part of her skull to relieve the swelling on her brain. It was touch and go for several days. Then it was an uphill battle. Through lots of prayer and faith, Jazzmynn slowly started to show signs of improvements. She opened her eyes. She squeezed our fingers. Small miracles each one.
After a few weeks at the Children's Hospital, she was transferred to the a pediatric rehab facility halfway across Oklahoma. She is currently relearning how to do everything - eat, talk, walk, etc. Even though she is due to be released next week, she will continue all of her rehab therapies for months to come.
As you can imagine, this has been an emotional and financial stress on the parents. They have been by her side every day. The costs associated with the stay at rehab are astronomical. The family's food and travel costs alone have been a burden. Family and friends have tried to help out as much as possible.
Once released, the family will need to drive Jazzmynn 40 miles round trip to her therapy and doctor appointments at least 3 times a week. The family is requesting donations to assist with Jazzmynn's medical costs, her medical equipment needed at home, and travel costs to get her to and from therapy and doctor visits.
