On June 21st Jay was riding his bike to work and was struck by a vehicle, they ran over his left leg, fracturing his femur in half and his hip. He underwent emergency surgery at Harborview to insert a rod, the full length of his femur, and pins to repair his hip. He was discharged on Monday the 25th. The pain of recovery has been so excruciating the only way to get any relief is for him to be on a strick pain management schedule including pain medication, muscle relaxer for spasms, tylenol, and anti-blood clotting injections. I am here to assist him with his day to day activities and be his nurse, help with physical therapy, support him emotionally and be a mother to our 2 kids and a caregiver to my mother who lives with us also, not easy, I'll attest to that! He cannot bare any weight on his leg for atleast 6 weeks and we both will be out of work for that amount of time, maybe more.  We do not have a definite way to supplement our income, and no extra funds for emergencies like this. I'm asking for prayers, as well as any friendly contributions to help with medical needs/ambulance bills as well as in home therapy (90$/visit), rent/bills and groceries for the next 8 weeks. We were barely squeaking by before the accident (Seattles cost of living has gotten so expensive!!) and now it seems our world has been flipped upside down. Every day has been so rough, emotionally, physically, and mentally and we would greatly appreciate any sort of donation for his road to recovery to ease our worries a bit, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts...

Jay is finally out of the Harborview, he went in last Saturday due to extreme purging of his system, dehydration, kidney pain, stomach pain, non stop throwing up, extreme hot and cold sweats. Turns out his system seemed to be blocked by all the medications and was causing him lots of grief. They monitored him, did CT scans, and determined he was extremely dehydrated and his gut had stopped working normally. He wasn't able to keep anything down for 6 days, he is now able to keep down broth, noodles, juice, light meals
We are so thankful for everyone's support during these last 2 months. We have had so many tests of turmoil, sadness, patience and struggle. We are so grateful to have people who care just like we would in a situation like ours.

Well Jay is back in the hospital. After having extreme reactions to percocet, extreme stomach cramping, throwing up, hot and cold sweats, delusional, and weakness. I'm not sure what is worse, the actual brake or the terrible opioid reaction.
I have never seen anything like this. Prayers please.

Yesterday I got a call from a woman at the Seattle Police Evidence Unit saying I could come get Jay's bike. The officer that was first on the scene took Jay's bike to the unit for safe keeping... so I went to get it... thinking it's going to be completely destroyed, sadly. The bike was only 4 days old at the time of the incident!

Turns out Jay's leg took the impact, not the bike, from what it looks like.. broken off pedal, bent wheel, and some scratches. Nothing compared to a broken femur and hip.. the bike can be fixed, unfortunately it's going to be quite a while until he can ride again...

Praying for a miracle! Jay has had 3 in home physical therapy sessions, it's a slow process but hes trying to push through the painful exercises. Really trying to gain mobility back in his hips and knee, were hoping he can start going to outpatient PT by the 2nd week of August.

Unfortunately we found out the drivers insurance is only covering 5,000 of the medical costs, which is not much considering the estimated total from the emergency surgery, femur and hip hardware, surgeon costs, hospital stay is about 50,000. It's really hard to say how much we will have to pay when it's all finslized... In the mean time I'm asking for any help so we can pay out of pocket expenses, more therapy (90$ a visit), meds (50$/8 days worth), medicinal herb, groceries and such.. anything helps!
