In September 2016, Jaxx was newly diagnosed with ALL Type B a form of Leukemia.

He entered a 3 year plan of Chemo treatments.  He has  completed 2 yrs of a 3 year plan when we were told it has COME BACK, Jaxx has RELAPSED in his spinal fluid.

On Friday, October 5, 2018 on an outpatient visit had a Bone Marrow Biopsy to determine if the leukemia is in the marrow (If it is then he would start the process of a bone marrow transplant).   Irregardless of that, he will be admitted to Egleston (CHOA) in Atlanta for an estimated 1 month as an inpatient to START the treatment process again.
As you can imagine with everything happening again, it’s hard prepare for the stress, financial strain, and the unknowns to come. There are many things this family will need our support in. This Go Fund Me was set up to help bring awareness, prayers, and support this awesome family. Jaxx will now be going every week to Elgeston Children’s Hospital for Chemo. Thank you to everyone for showing your support! #TEAMJAXX #JAXXISASUPERHERO

This is an update to a long week. The end result is that he got to come home from the hospital. The condition was that he has to get IV antibiotics for 10 days. As you can see the drug is placed in a ball and hooked to his port. The best news is that the sores caused by the strong chemo drugs are getting better since he is starting to make monocytes (white cells that fight infection). He will be 8 years old the last of May and when he went in the hospital last week he weighed 48 lbs.
Since he is beginning to eat again without pain all he wants is Chick fila and McDonald Big Macs. You wouldn’t think the cost of all this would be very much for a little boy but it adds up quickly. As parents you will give your child ANYTHING to eat that he wants when he wants.
We are happy that this crises has subsided but very cautious of the next one. As a grandparent you feel powerless over this dreadful disease.
Continue to pray for Jaxx and his fight for healing.

This week has been very tough for our superhero. Earlier in the week he was very pale, more than usual. His mom was very concerned and called his medical team. The arranged for him to have blood work. The next day, the hospital called with the results. His hemoglobin vas extremely low (5.46) and platelets was almost nothing. They told him to come in immediately to receive blood and some platelets.
With such low platelets it could potentially life threatening. On the way to the hospital, he had a nosebleed. When the arrived at the emergency room at Children’s Hospital his nose was still bleeding. The buses worked really fast to access his port and started infusing platelets while the lab prepared the blood crossmatch. All the time his nose was still bleeding and now his tears was blood. As you imagine it is very scary. About 2 hrs they finally got the bleeding under control. He received units of blood. Later that night he finally got to come home.
Today, he started running a fever and they have now admitted him back in the hospital. With his immune system so low he has trouble fighting any kind of infection. Please keep him in your prayers.

Well it’s been 4 months since Jaxx’s leukemia relapsed. This journey has been a roller coaster. His treatment plan is going as the medical staff expected. Some treatments have been more difficult than others. Sometimes he is sick to his stomach and some leaves him with mouth sores that makes eating difficult and sometimes impossible. Some of the drugs are so strong they have to closely monitor his liver enzymes so that it does not damage his liver.
He is still unable to go to school and do normal activities other kids can do, like playing his beloved baseball. So, when his white counts are in acceptable range he can have some fun and never takes anything for granted.
He has the strongest spirit I have ever seen. He is truly my superhero.

Jaxx will be admitted to CHOA - Children’s Hospital in Atlanta tomorrow for inpatient treatment. He will be there through Thanksgiving. His little body has to endure these harsh drugs but he is so strong and takes everything in stride but it breaks my heart that he has to go through all of this. Please give him the strength.....
