Javier Perez, South Dade High
I am so happy to share with you that Javi is starting to take a few steps!! It's a miracle he is with us and watching him stand and take steps is like a dream come true. The prosthetist and therapists have explained that it is a long and grueling chapter to learn to walk with prosthetics, but I have total faith that God will continue to carry Javi through every step. Your prayers and positive thoughts are giving us strength and courage to continue on this journey. We thank you all for you generous support and most of all
God bless you all!
Despite the great deal of pain he has been experiencing these past several weeks, Javi is pushing forward and continuing to get stronger.
He is back at the gym and physical therapy, preparing for prosthetics. He was molded and casted and we are hoping to start in the next few weeks. We were told that the process will be long and grueling; nonetheless, we are eager to get started on the journey to begin walking.
Javi also started the process to begin driving. Undoubtedly, he is extremely excited!
Since day one I was told it would be an emotional roller coaster with heart wrenching downs and exhilarating highs. It has been exactly that, but every moment has been a blessing. Our family is together and everyday is a gift.
Please continue to pray for Javi, especially that doctors find the right medications to alleviate his pain and that he can begin the process of learning to walk again.
May god bless you all.
As we ponder the moments that made 2016, we find ourselves looking back with gratitude. Yes, gratitude!!! Albeit the challenges of 2016 forever changed our family, but we are blessed that as a family we are stronger and more united than ever. This year has taught us the true meaning of faith, hope, love, family, friendship, health, strength, bravery, patience, and charity. I pray that the lessons we have learned individually and as a family in 2016 forever guide our future.
We all have obstacles and challenges we must overcome, each with there own complications, but we must find the strength and courage to move forward with a grateful heart. Every obstacle is put in our path for a reason and with God in our hearts we will overcome it all. We must remember to find the good in every situation, difficult as it may be at times. Every day is a gift, every moment needs to be appreciated. Most of all, every blessing we receive must be treasured.
Our wish for all of you, our family and friends, is that you always put God first and foremost in your lives, that you remember the power of prayer, that those you love fill your heart to the brim, that you take time out to say I love you to those you care most about, that you enjoy the simplest of moments, that you make time to be kind and generous to those in need, and that you always choose to see the brighter side of life and be JAVISTRONG.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year full of God's blessings.

As I sit here waiting for news on Javi's 22nd surgery, I found myself on the go fund me page reading comments from you all. The kind and loving messages fill me with peace especially on days where my anxiety is through the roof. I glanced down and to my surprise, there were 2279 donations. That was unbelievable to me. I was overwhelmed and humbled, friends and strangers all coming together for Javi. I can't put into words what that felt like. There is no way we can thank each and everyone of you personally, but I pray that each of you know that your generosity is beyond appreciated. Your kind words and prayers are felt and give Javi and I strength. We are blessed to have such an enormous support system. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
We have only just begun on this extremely long journey, but we are certain that God will continue to guide us through every step.
May God bless you all.
As we continue to pray for Javi 's recovery, I want to to acknowledge Maytee who is a rock. I am astounded by her strength and courage. Maytee, you are a true inspiration and I know that through all of this you are being prepared to help and strengthen others. Love from Annie & Jorge.
Mr. Perez, I am honored to say that you were my principal while I was at South Dade. The transformation within the school over the past 3 years that you've been at South Dade is astounding. You're an excellent principal who truly cares about the students and gas had a big impact on many people's lives, including mine. I continue to pray for a quick recovery and healing for you and your family. You're a fighter and I just know you will be able to overcome this. I greatly appreciate you and you have done for me, the school, and the community. Continue fighting and being the hero that you are to so many.
There's nothing greater in this world then a teacher. Principals stand even higher, not only do they interact on a personal level with the complexity of each student at their school, they also have to over see the interacts between each one of those students and his staff. Mr. Perez will have a long road of recovery ahead of him, but life only throws challenges it knows you can handle. That SUV could have easly taken out any number of young children on that field that day. Some how it took aim at the strongest person on that field, Mr Perez now needs our help. I donate to a great man who have many kids who truly love him and want him back. These donations will assist in those efforts to bring back a vital member of the Homestead community. Stay Strong Mr. Perez
This is the news I have been waiting for. Thanks God . Since the day of the accident I was confident in God that Javier will recover sooner that we expected . I certainly know their live will be full of marvelous miracles and true love . I am so happy today . Thanks my God.
Praying for you Javi and the whole family too. Never give up hope and may you find comfort and strength in knowing that no darkness can keep out the light of our Lord & Savior so long as you have faith. Continue to fight and rise above the chaos and stay focused on His light. There will be rough days in this long journey, for the enemy is relentless and we can't fight alone. Therefore, be sure to put on the full armor of Jesus every morning before going into battle. Our Lord will follow you and stay by your side until the battle is won. God Bless You! Annie, You don't know me. Javi doesn't know me. I am 'Shoreside Connections", I have coordinated Grad Bash for his school for several years (worked with Kim and now Charmaine). I donated at the beginning, after hearing of the traumatic story. I want to tell you that I was so moved by your last post, brought me to tears. You are both so courageous, and the sentiments and expression of the appreciation and love for all involved in his recovery and yours is beautiful. I wish you could feel my emotions, as words don't do it justice. Godspeed. Adele Zum
