As many of you know Jason DiMatteo is in the ICU unit at Sacred Heart in Spokane, WA.  Jason has had numerous complications from an infection in his liver.  He has already undergone two surgeries and he is expected to have yet another on Tuesday.  As of today, they have placed Jason in a medically induced coma to help his body fight and to ease him of his pain. He is expected to be at Sacred Heart at least the next several weeks.

Jason is a hard-working family man that lives in Missoula, Montana with his wife Liz and their 5 young boys.  Their family is a fixture in the Missoula community and is deeply rooted in the hockey community.   Anybody that has met Jason will tell you about his devotion to his family, work and hockey.

This page was set up by friends of the DiMatteo's to help ease their burden in such unfortunate circumstances.  Please keep the DiMatteo's in your thoughts and prayers and if you have the means feel free to donate.

The past two weeks have been much of the same for Jason. However, the past couple of days Dimo has made significant progress. Yesterday he started some PT work, sitting up, neck and arm movement and overall strengthening to get his body back. He has been able to acknowledge the doctors when he is spoken to, he is still unable to speak due to the ventilator. There is talk about trying to get him off the ventilator very soon, at which time they can dial back the pain meds even more.

As Liz put it, “what a fabulous Birthday gift”! Thank you all for your continued support and prayers over the past few weeks. Please continue to keep Jason and his family in your thoughts, things are looking up!

Happy Birthday Jason, keep fighting!

Thank you for the continued support of Jason, Liz and their family. In light of such a scary and critical situation, it is so encouraging to see the amazing and caring people who are out there. Not a lot has changed over the past few days with Jason. They have gone back in and replaced the Wound Vac, this happens every 48-72 hours usually. Jason has a great deal of swelling going on around his abdomen, once they can get the swelling down, they plan on closing up his abdomen. At that time they can hopefully start turning down the sedation, which will help to get Jason back to being Jason.
Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers!

Sometimes life hands you a "curve ball" and you just have to roll with it. I'm headed to Seattle on Sept. 29 for a month to get a kidney transplant, and I only have two requests: (1) That Jason comes home soon (2) and the Bruins win all their games in October to lift our spirits...I hate missing home games!!!
