Jan Breitenfeldt Memorial Fund

It is with a broken heart and great sadness that I have to report that our beloved friend and fellow Pekingese breeder and exhibitor, Jan Breitenfeldt and her daughter, Sky, died in a terrible accident yesterday, Sunday May19, on their way home from the Mt. Ogden Kennel Club dog shows held in Logan, Utah. Their vehicle appears to have been blown off the road while they were coming down a steep grade pulling their 33 foot trailer. They had four dogs with them and by some miracle they all survived with what appears only minor injuries. The little boy pictured with Jan is the smallest Pekingese to have ever finished, weighing only 2 pounds 9 ounces as officially weighed last year at the show where he finished his Grand Championship. He was found sitting outside the wreckage next to his mangled crate but was not harmed. A puppy girl was found running down a frontage highway not far from the accident and was rescued by a woman passing by who stopped and help get the other two from the wreckage. The one boy's crate was crushed and by some miracle he survived. Jan just stayed at our house last Tuesday on the way to the shows then we left to go to Farmington, New Mexico. We spoke to her about an hour prior to the accident and she was so proud that her multiple group winning girl, Sophie, finished her Silver Grand Championship, only the second Peke bitch to have done so.
I will be attempting to set up a Go Fund Me Page for her grief stricken husband. So when I do, it would be most appreciated in you could spread the word.
