I have dedicated my life to serving my country.   I’m a decorated U.S. Army veteran, and worked with both Democrats and Republicans on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for 31 years, including more than 29 as the Director of Security for the Committee.   Every day, I have honored the trust that comes with that position, and have never, ever, breached it. 

Despite my service, I’m now in the fight of my life in an unfair and unjust prosecution.  My freedom and livelihood are at stake. 

President Trump and Attorney General Sessions have sought to crack down on leaks to the media from the Administration and Congress.   On June 7, I was charged with making false statements about sharing nonpublic information with reporters.   Despite President Trump’s comments to the media, I have not been charged with disclosing classified information.

I’ve been swept up in the political frenzy surrounding information leaks, and I’m being singled out.  

I’m facing 15 years of jail time, and am fighting this alone.   I’ve worked for the government my entire life, and paying legal defense bills is already crushing me.

On June 19, my attorneys filed a motion to stop President Trump and others from making misleading and prejudicial statements about my case in order to protect my Sixth Amendment right to an impartial jury and the presumption of innocence.   I have to ensure that the truth comes out, and the only way I can do that is through a fair trial.   You can find the motion here.
