James Kinyanjui Medical Appeal

I was diagnosed in March 2018 with ATTR Amyloidosis, a condition in which abnormal protein deposits form in almost every tissue in the body mostly in the heart, kidneys, and nervous system. These protein deposits damage the tissues and interfere with how organs work.  The sad situation is that there is no treatment in the UK for this disease.

The financial appeal is to fund for my treatment at Mayo Clinic, a non profit medical centre based in Rochester, Minnesota, USA. This treatment is my only hope of treating and stabilising the illness as it is slowly progressive and fatal if left untreated.  The treatment at Mayo Clinic will cost £25000.

Since then I have been experiencing heart pain, 35kg weight loss, leg swelling, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, disrupted sleep and I have carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  The illness has affected my ability to carry out majority of my daily living tasks including lack of hand grip, mobility difficulty and ability to transfer.  Previously I used to lead an active life including working, jogging and swimming.

I am a proud father of three sons and two grandchildren and as a family we request your prayers and any donations to fund my treatment. It will be a pleasure for us to update you with my journey and progress.
