James Groenier's Healing Help

James Groenier, a Webster Groves High School sophomore, was struck and dragged underneath a truck while walking in a crosswalk in September. He suffered terrible burns, a concussion and had devastating injuries to his left knee and shoulder. His injuries included fractures as well as tendon, ligament, muscle, skin and nerve damage, some of which has not yet healed. The extent of his injuries were so great that the doctors could not adequately evaluate some of the orthopedic damage nor could they operate until this week due to his other wounds. He has also developed PTSD from the emotional trauma and constant physical pain he's been living with since the accident.

James has suffered tremendously. Previously, he was taking advanced classes at school and passionately enjoyed his interests and hobbies relating to business and technology. He was known as a kind, caring person who was always willing to do what he could to help others. Since the accident, he has been unable to attend school and has been in a wheelchair for the past four months. His family has also had to endure a great deal. The amount of insurance compensation is inadequate to cover all the surgeries, hospitalization, physical therapy and future medical treatment not to mention the pain, suffering and lost time at work for his family, including his mom who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a painful, connective tissue disorder.

So, here's where we get to step in and help. James was injured terribly. Let's help him heal! Many have already brought food, so much love and many prayers; now it's time to support him in another way. If we each make a contribution, we can help ease the burden on this family. We can do this!
