Big Dreams in the Big Apple

Hello! I'm Jailyn! I am an actor and director currently living in Cleveland. This August, I will be packing up my whole life and moving to New York City to continue working as an actor and pursue my dream in a larger market.I now work primarily as a teaching artist .  I started my GoFundMe to help make the transition to a new city a little bit easier. 
I've had a lot of success in Cleveland but it's next to impossible to make a living as an actor here. New York City is a much larger market with more opportunities for diverse performers. I also believe that if I don't take the chance and go now, I will never go.

My goal is to raise $2000!

What would this money be going towards? Well let me lay that out for you!
 1) I initially started my GoFundMe to raise money for rent! I've been saving and have been getting closer to my goal of saving up 3 month's rent on my own; once we started our apartment search, my fears were relieved: Splitting rent with someone would not be as expensive as I thought. Because of this, I want to shift my focus to raising money to make the transition easier. This includes furniture, groceries and utilities for at least the first month while I lock down a job (don't worry, I've been looking!)
2)A portion of the money would also go towards moving costs. This includes truck/van rentals, boxes, any storage if need be and in the most extreme case - subletting a place until we can find an apartment of our own.

3) If I'm fortunate enough to exceed my goal, I plan on putting that money towards rent, addtional classes and training. For example, a semester at the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade costs $450. Dance classes at Broadway Dance Center cost about $20 each. It would be beyond amazing to continue to study my craft in the epicenter of American theatre!



I will be finishing out my theatrical career in Cleveland by appearing as the Leading Player in Pippin which is one of my dream roles! After that closes at the end of August, I'm packing up (and to quote Billy Joel) I'm moving out!
