Choir tour to France
Hi! My name is Jaden and I am 12 years old. This year, as a member of the Philadelphia Boys Choir, I have the opportunity to travel to France and perform in multiple venues with the choir as well as experience the beauty and history of France. I was fortunate enough to make last years tour to the Baltic States with the support of friends and family and it was AMAZING!! I'd love to have that opportunity again.
If you aren't familiar with the Philadelphia Boys Choir and Chorale, it is an organization started in 1968 that provides wonderful music education and performing experience for boys and men in the tri-state area. Our itinerary is still in process but what we know now is we will visit Rouen Cathedral to learn the history of Joan of Arc and view the art of Claude Monet. We will travel to Caen to learn about the Allied Forces landing on D-Day in 1944 and visit the beaches of Normandy. There is a lot of history in these parts and I'm very excited to learn all about it. We will spend time in Paris seeing all the sites including a visit
to the Eiffel Tower and an informal performance at Notre Dame.
Some of the possible concert venues are the Church of St Ouen in Rouen, Abbaye aux Dames in Caen or an informal concert at the American Cemetery. While in the Loire Valley we will perform at the Cathedrale Saint-Louis De Blois or Cathedrale Saint-Etienne de Bourges. There are opportunities to collaborate with local choirs while traveling as well.
As you can see from what we do know so far this is going to be an incredible trip! I will continue to update everyone as I learn more about our plans.
Donated money will go directly to the expenses related to the tour including air travel, travel with in France, accommodations and food for the time I am away.
