JacquelineWedge Pottery Studio Fire
Donation protected
My name is Donna Sussums. I live in Crawford Bay, BC, Canada. I'm raising funds for my dear friend and neighbour, Jacqueline Wedge, whose pottery studio burned to the ground on October 21, 2017.
Unfortunately, the building was not insured.
Our goal is to raise enough money for Jacqueline to rebuild her pottery business so that she can provide for her family.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
This is Jacqueline's story:
Saturday, October 21, 2017
At 2:05am, Jacqueline awoke to discover that her studio/rental apartment was ablaze, a mere 20 feet from her own home where she lives with her two children. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the fire.
Jacqueline, a single mother, stated, "The apartment and studio are gone. That means no more rental income or product left to sell. Not to mention, all my clay, glazes, paints, bisqueware & glazed pieces, hand tools & stamps, a small kiln, silver/beads, wires and finishing supplies, packing supplies, other art supplies, tie dye dyes and 10 years worth of pottery and mosaic publications. All of it gone."
There is no official word on the cause of the fire.

Jacqueline has been my next-door-neighbour for over twenty years. She has worked tirelessly to provide for her family, and it hasn't always been easy. This fire has pretty much destroyed her main source of income.
In our tiny community of Crawford Bay, Jacqueline is famous for volunteering her time, energy and passion for any and all projects that could use her bright spirit.
Just a few of these projects include:
The Community Greenhouse
Community Garden
Seed Saving Campaign
Music for children
Bevy of Angels Christmas Faire (16 years)
Kootenay Lake Fall Fair
Local Theatre Group Actor
Arts and Crafts Workshops
High School Mentorship Program
Our Jacqueline is much-loved and respected in our small town. She is a valuable asset to the artisan-based economy. We, as friends and neighbours, have banded together to help and support Jacqueline in her time of need. But with a population of roughly 500 there is only so much we can do.
That's where this campaign can help. All funds raised will be used by Jacqueline to replace the tools, equipment and materials lost in the fire. And this will allow this beautiful, big-hearted, generous soul we call Jacqueline to become self-sufficient once again.
Donate if you can, but please take a moment to share Jacqueline's story as widely as possible.
Thank you so much.
This is some of Jacqueline's work. It's full of passion and colour and personality. Let's get this talented potter back in business!
