Jacob Samples Support Fund

Jacob Samples is an awesome, 18 year old young man that needs your support. He is a 2016 Bradley Central High School graduate and former student of the youth group at the Church at Grace Point. He is full of life, very intelligent and always smiling! His sense of humor never stops and his personality is contagious! In mid August, he began his college journey as a Freshman at Middle Tennessee State University with the plan of pursuing a degree in History. Just as his first semester started, he received the exciting news that he had made the MTSU Men's Varsity Soccer Squad. Last Saturday, August 27, Jacob and four of his teammates jumped in the car to head south for their first game. Jacob was a backseat passenger sitting directly behind the driver. As he and his teammates traveled down the interstate the rear drivers side tire blew and the car began to lose control. As the car veered into the other lane, another vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, suddenly crashed into the back driver side door of the car. Keep in mind, Jacob was seated directly behind the driver. Jacob was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His injuries were very serious. He suffered a broken pelvis and ribs, lacerations to his liver, spleen and kidneys, torn ligaments in his neck and a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that resulted in a stroke to the frontal lobe of his brain. After several days in ICU, he was moved to the Critical Care Tower. Today (9/2) he was moved to the Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital. As his organs, ribs and pelvis begin to slowly heal, Jacob will continue rehab to aid in healing his brain from the stroke and TBI. The length of his stay at Stallworth has not yet been determined but he has a long road. Once he is released from inpatient rehab he will be transferred home to Cleveland where he will continue outpatient rehab therapy for many months. As my sister and I visited with him this evening, he told us that he is so grateful for every thought, prayer and kind word that has been said in his honor. I also know that his parents, David and Bekki, have felt every prayer, too! Together, they are giving all of the Glory to God when it comes to how far Jacob has progressed since his arrival at Vanderbilt. However, they know that even with the leaps and bounds he has made in just a weeks time, he has a very tough journey ahead of him. His family will face financial challenges with hospital and medical bills, therapy costs, etc. After prayerful consideration, Bekki has decided to leave her full time job allowing her to be by Jacob's side through his recovery as he will require 24/7 care for the next several months. This GoFundMe account for Jacob serves more than the purpose of giving you an opportunity to offer financial support to help during this time. It is a plea to pray for this sweet, young man. I challenge you to share this post, even if you cannot make a monetary donation. But the biggest challenge comes with how you react each time you see his picture or an update come across your news feed... use it as a reminder to stop what you are doing for just a brief moment and say a special prayer for Jacob. Storm the throne in Jacob's name and help his family and friends pray him through his recovery!
