Medical needs for Jacob Gavlik
Jacob is a very loveing, caring and generous 15 old young man who is a freshman at GPHS . He loves spending time with his family , playing golf and archery and fishing with his dad ! He has always had a great abality to be postive and that did not change even on the day he was told that he had a tumor, 1 month befor his 10 th birthday Jacob was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 2 months later in February of 2013 he undre went a 7 hour sugery to have the tummor removed . It was a tumor called Ganglial glioma grade 1. We were so very grateful is was found not to be cancer but due to the placement of the tumor we have had to keep a close eye on it ! For the last 4 years we have been drive 4 hours from our home for him to have a MRI and a tumor specialist !!
As of March 22 , 2017 we have found that the tumor is growing again and we are having to back to Portland lots more then we had been they have thought that surgery was going to be the best chance but after the surgeon had more time to look at what the tumor was doing he decided that it was is to big of a risk at this time and feel that his best chance to get this under control is to try this new form of chemo! Jacob has been on chemo for 11 months the chemo meds are very expense we are hoping to get some good news on April 18 is our next Mri and vist to the dr in Portland !
Because we have to leave or jobs so much it has made it near impossible to keep up or finance and the massive hospital and dr bills it has also made it very hard to take care of the needs of Jacob and his two younger sisters one age 12 and one age 9 In which she has a story of her own troubles that make it tough !
By taking this time to give to our family you are helping me and my husband to be able to take the time we need to take care of our jacob and all of his needs. god bless you for your help and keeping Jacob Feeling good and staying healthy We are very greatfull for any help you are able to give !
