Shut Out Jack's Cancer
It was Mid-March 2015 and Jack had just finished up the season with the CBA JV hockey team. He was looking forward to the end of school and the summer. Then in an instant, his life changed forever. What was thought to be a sports injury turned out to be a cancerous tumor inside his spinal cord that took away his ability to walk.
On April 1st, 2015 he had spine surgery but the tumor could not be removed and now five months later he has been in five different hospitals to treat the cancer and to rehabilitate his body in hopes of walking again. Jack has made great strides on both fronts, controlling the cancer and starting to walk, but these wins are small battles in what promises to be a long war. We all hope and pray every day that Jack will make a full recovery.
Our family is fortunate to have health insurance but we are now starting to face some financial hardships. Our insurance for inpatient physical rehabilitation ended on August 18th but Jack needs to stay until at least the end of August. That expense coupled with co-pays, coinsurance, out of network fees, home health care, babysitters, renovations for accessibility, travel and so on have put a tremendous financial strain on our family. I also do not expect the expenses to go away any time soon. All we have ever asked was for you to keep Jack in your thoughts and prayers and that is still enough. However, if you want to do more please donate to his medical fund. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
