Fire Places Veteran Dreams On Hold

Donation protected
Greetings Everyone, The purpose of my campaign is raise money to help reopen my business EAGLE FITNESS HEALTH CLUB after damage suffered from a fire cause by an arsonist.

First and Foremost, I'm Rick Tillman a 12 Year US Army Veteran who served during the Gulf War, I have Three Good Conduct Medals, Six Army Achievement Medals, National Defense Service Ribbon and Two Overseas Tours Ribbons. My disability is Raynaud's which I suffered frostbite during a training mission in Alaska where the average temperature was 22 below zero. My job was communications supervisor and primary physical training instructor or fitness instructor.

After getting out of the Army on Dec 16th 1991, I continue my quest and passion for by working at health clubs like Bally's and Snap Fitness in that includes sales, marketing and fitness trainer. Fast forward, In 2003, I met with the previous ownership of Eagle Fitness where I was a member and ask the owner if he ever decided to sell the business I would like to purchase it. In 2014 I wrote my business plan for Eagle Fitness Health Club. In 2015 I begin working unpaid, to learn all the operations and put a purchase price that was a win-win for all parties involved. On March 1st 2016, my dream became reality as I took ownership. After countless hours, my hard work was paying off. Purchasing Eagle Fitness was my second greatest accomplishment. My service to our country will always be my 1st greatest achievement.

Set Backs - In late June, my body reacted to a drug which cause me to have congestive heart failure. My heart went to irregular rhythm. Now I take a Metoprolol twice a-day, Warfarin, Amlodipine and Furosemide, The next treatment will include shocking my heart. Further, keep my health manageable, I went back into focusing on my business Eagle Fitness Health Club.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 13TH 2016 AT 2:15 PM - ( A day I will never forget) I was working the front desk at my club. one my members made a purchase of energy drink using a 20 dollar bill. After giving him his change. I needed more change for my register. Since we're located in a stripmall, I have always used the DollarTree to get changes since is just a few doors down. At approx. 2:20 pm I entered the DollarTree, as I looked to my left I observed the store manager on duty using a fire extinguisher to put out a small fire burning inside the party bags and greeting cards display. When the fire extinguisher was empty. The smoke continued to come from the display, the manager reply she was calling the main store manager as into what she should do. Meanwhile another employee called 911 to report the fire. I went over to the display, I observed how the smoke begin to move at a high rate of speed. So I took charge of the situation order the 15 to 20 customers to leave the store immediately moving their vehicles away from the building. The employees proceeded to the front of the store and I told them to get out. Then as if a giant match were struck, the building was engulf in flames and black smoke. I rush back to my health club gave the same order for my members to leave.

Eagle Fitness Health Club
has been the health club of choice for many of our members of the community who joined back in 2003, with our oldest member being 86 years old.  My club means the world to me...

PASSION: Fitness is my passion not only for myself. But I enjoy helping people from our youth to our seniors. I enjoy seeing the joy and listening to the success stories shared by my members. Helping my members reach and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle is another great accomplishment for me. It's all about aging gracefully. You may have a great career, great family, take great vacations and many other things. But if you don't have the good health to enjoy it. It's meaningless.

My father Otis Lee Tillman has a  saying - "Peace Be With You and To Love All The Time."

"I thank you for your support...May God Bless and Keep You Healthy and Safe....Thank You...Rick Tillman
