On February 16, 2016, my father walked out on us.
He was the only one in the house with a job, despite my job searching and working with a job counselor from the Dept. of Rehabilitation Services. My mom doesn't have a job, and my younger brother doesn't work, either, because he has severe chronic pain that no doctors have figured out. All three of us have mental illnesses and need to take medicine for them daily. My dog is also prescribed psychiatric medicine.
Despite my following up on job leads, so far I've come up with nothing. I have an Etsy shop where I sell my own artwork, but it doesn't bring in a significant revenue, if any. My mom has said if my father doesn't come back-- and it looks like he isn't-- we're going to have to move out, and she has no real idea where we can go, especially with my dog. Who, to complicate matters further, is a pit bull mix. We may be able to stay with an aunt, but she is very staunchly Catholic, and because of my queerness, agnosticism, and witchy-ish-ness, this very much worries me.
My father has also made it so my mom can't see their joint finances, including bill pay. At the very least, we need to be able to pay for our phone services. I also have overdue psych hospital bills that came about starting in 2014. My most recent time inpatient for my mental illness was only just over a year ago, and I was finally working on getting my feet under me.
We also need to be able to buy food and other necessities. I have to be able to buy food for my dog, which includes a lot of treats for training, because he is a reactive dog and is highly food motivated. None of us are able to drive (I was working on fixing that, as well), and so i, at least, have to be able to afford a monthly bus pass.
