Croydon Cat Killer investigation

Someone is murdering cats in the Croydon area. The police are investigating, alongside South Norwood Animal Rescue & Liberty (SNARL), a local small animal rescue.
Around 30 cats and kittens have been killed in a similar manner over the last two years, their mutilated bodies put back near their homes, for their owners to find.
Ukiyo's body was discarded by the uncaring local council after he was killed in September 2015.
Amber, who was killed in October, was taken to a vet and a post mortem showed beyond doubt that she had been killed by a human being and her injuries had been caused by a bladed object. Further, she had matter under her claws which may contain DNA. Amber hated to be picked up and she may well have scratched her attacker.
.SNARL is currently funding the tests for DNA and the Police will consider the results. We have obtained legal advice and the police have not only run this test for human murder victims found in similar circumstances, but have led to successful, science-based prosecutions using that evidence. It is well documented that people who hurt animals will, at some point, go on to hurt human beings. Nearly all human serial killers started with animals.
Unfortunately, the prediction made by SNARL, that this person will not stop until caught was sadly proven correct with the discovery of another cat, Oscar, on 20 November. Like Amber, he had been decapitated and his tail was removed.
