Dear Friends, As many of you have heard, Randy Budd passed away unexpectedly at his Uniontown home the night of August 6th. However, this is not where this tragedy begins. The tragedy of the Budd story began 2 years ago when Randy, his wife Sharon, and daughter Kaylee were driving down an interstate in rural Pennsylvania on an impromptu road trip to New York City. Their vehicle was suddenly struck by a rock the size of a volleyball, thrown from a highway overpass by four teenagers. The rock crashed through the windshield striking Sharon and inflicting permanent brain damage and causing her to lose an eye. After undergoing dozens of surgeries, Sharon was no longer able to care for herself and be the mother and wife she once was. Randy stood vigilently by the side of his wife not only during her long journey to “recovery", but for the last 33 years of their marriage. He advocated for her in court, sought justice for the teens who turned his family’s world upside down and worked with state Senators to pass laws mandating fencing on highway overpasses.

Randy was a loving father and husband, a hard-working provider for his family, and a dear friend. Now it is time that we remain #BUDDstrong for Randy and the family he so dearly loved. With his passing, financial obligations remain such as funeral costs, housing and long-term care for Sharon, and their daughter’s college education. Any amount of donation can help support this family once again

I woud like to thank all of the friends, family and strangers that have donated to the Budd Family since the death of their beloved husband and father. The family is doing as well as can be expected and trying to move ahead in their life. Rhonda is still caring daily for Sharon and continues to be a huge support and friend to all of the family as she grieves for the loss of her brother. Kaylee is back at college and the boys are back at their jobs. Life goes on but will never be the same for this family. The donations will play a huge part in Sharon's life as she no longer is able to work but the bills continue to roll in.
Thank you, thank you for all the emotional support and kind words that all of you wrote to the Budd family, it meant a lot to them. The fund will be open until the end of November so continue to donate if your heart tells you too!
We all miss Randy tremendously!!!

Make the little bastards that threw the rock pay for it, take it out of their checks like child support. Label it "Ruined a families lives fund" and take it out before taxes. They were responsible for it they should have to pay. I'd make them dig the grave too.

These little bastards that did this to this family did not pay me enough of a price for what they did this woman may not have physically died but for all intensive purposes she pretty much did and her loving husband just could not bear it another day obviously and this never would have happened had it not been for those little son of a bitch kids and their actions I don't know how they did not all get busted for attempted murder they had to know when throwing a five pound rock into somebody's window chances were very high you were going to kill somebody and for that the sentences that were handed to them were an abomination. Yes if I were this family I would go after these people in a civil suit and take them for everything they will ever be worth it because the time they were given as a sentence is almost laughable if the situation were not so serious they absolutely should have to pay something for the rest of their lives to try to give back to this family that they all took so much from these little bastards will go on and live long lives I'm sure and have families of their own and we'll forget what they did to this poor family I really hope there is something that can be done to make these kids pay a huge price financially for the rest of their lives yes it should come out of every paycheck they ever get until each one of them pays a million dollars for her and a million dollars for him and I'm sure that would take the rest of their lives but who cares look at the damage they did and they got nothing but a slap on the wrist I think the case should somehow be reopened because cause and effect this man would not be dead today had these dumb-asses not caused his wife 2 live the life she was forced to live by no actions of her own these kids pretty much took the lives of two wonderful people and walked away with the mirrors smack on the hand while bullshit I hope this family goes after them and takes all they can so every payday these assholes will have to remember what they did to a family

I agree that these teenagers(their families) should be paying all the damages. And for the record, I think their names should be continued to be mentioned so that they have the most severe consequences and embarrassment, if they have any intelligence at all. Brett Lahr, Dylan Lahr, Keefer McGee, and Tyler Porter! Words can't describe what "wastes" these pathetic beings are. I am sure this is far from the first trouble that they have caused. Their sentences were ridiculous for the most part. A few years for the lifetime of suffering imposed on a family???? Say their names people!

The victims of the family which was devastated by those moronic idiots who threw the boulder down on them should be forever compensated either by the severe punishment of the perpetrators or possibly by the revengful punishment of the Lord. I will pray for the victims and leave the rest to God...the wrath of the Lord cannot be matched.

I had the great honor of getting to meet and know Randy and Sharon Budd in person. I have never met a Man as devoted to his wife, children, and his family as this Man was. I am still having a difficult time of dealing with the loss of this Great Man. I truly believe in my heart had this incident with his Beautiful Wife Sharon being struck by a rock thrown from the overpass, Randy would still be here and he and Sharon would be making plans for their Retirement not having the Family planning a funeral. R.I.P Randy and spread those wings wide, you certainly earned them here on earth. Just so sad our time of knowing each other has been so short....You will be greatly missed!! ;(

A very similar situation affected our family a little over 11 years ago. I lost my sister but there was much more loss. Loss of love, loss of friendship, loss of a loving mother, wife, daughter. Loss of a bond between mother and child. Loss between a wife and husband. Loss between a sister and sisters/ and brothers. The most difficult thing in the world is forgiveness. Only by the Grace of God was I able to forgive the teen(s) that were involved in this horrific tragedy. Yes I had human emotions and reactions like everyone else about what the teen did to my sister, my family but with prayer I was able to recollect on her memory now and bring those who perhaps experienced a similar situation or loss, closer to God. Only thru the Grace of God is there true forgiveness. God will judge the teen at His own time. God be with this family and all of the others that have experienced a similar senseless loss.

Seriously, go after the judge? When will it stop? Accept it. He's out on probation now. Ohio has no authority to start any petition for anything here in PA. You know, I recall Sharon saying something to the effect that she was 17 yrs. old once and she made mistakes, and I also read in one of these articles where Randy was quoted as saying he couldn't help but look the boys in the eyes and feel bad for them. I seriously wonder exactly what Sharon would think if she could read all these comments. I'm sure she would like to move on as best she can. Why don't you all? I have yet to read one single comment from any of her immediate family continuing to drag this on and on. Yes, Sharon will live with this the rest of her life. But being the person she has been built up to be the past 2 yrs. I know she would want this to end. How do any of you expect her to do any healing with all this? You can continue with your thoughts and suggestions on what should happen to these boys. Don't make yourself sick over this. It's already done. They've been sentenced. You have no say -you never did, you never will. Now you want to go after the judge. Just what is that going to prove? Will it bring Randy back? Will it bring Sharon back to her former self? NO!!! Revenge is an ugly thing. Let it go!!!!!!

Someone needs to start a petition to go after the judge who handed down these sentences to the four punks . Ruin his chance for running again like the petition for the judge in the rape case by a punk on the swim team . Judge said poor rapist wouldn't be able to hack prison. One girl started a petition and got over a million signatures which has pretty much ruined that judge. This makes me so so angry RIP Mr Budd although I didn't know you I read all the articles about this horrible event and you truly fought hard , cared and loved your wife more than most would. I will always add you to my prayers

I feel for your family during this incredibly difficult journey. As someone whose family has been affected by a TBI, I understand the stress and grief it puts on your family. Stay strong and live the life your parents would want you to live. Xx
