#HELPYOGI
On the evening of 5/11/17, we were heartbroken when our 6& 1/2 year old beloved frenchie, Yogi, collapsed & was unable to make use of his hind legs when trying to walk. After visiting his vet at Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital we were referred to Valley Central Animal Hospital for emergency care.
Doctors have diagnosed Yogi with IVDD or Intervertebral Disk Disease. IVDD is a condition where the cushioning discs between the vertebrae of the spinal column either bulge or burst (herniate) into the spinal cord space. These discs then press on the nerves running through the spinal cord causing pain, nerve damage, and even paralysis.
When the nerves of the spinal cord are compressed, the nerve impulses are not able to transmit their signals to the final destination in the limbs, bladder, etc. If the damage is severe enough, paralysis and loss of bladder and bowel control can occur. Depending on the location of the disc that is bulging, signs occur anywhere in the body from the neck to the rear legs.
Yogi has a slight sensation/feeling between the digits of his back paws which gives us hope along with doctors saying the success rate of surgery is 80%.
Yogi's condition requires immediate surgery & hospital care. Our family asks that you donate whatever you can to help him.
Aron & I thank you for your support!
