Islambek's Kidney Transplant

Tax deductible
This is Islambek Ashyraliev, son, friend, wrestler, soccer player, community service volunteer, university student, and future leader. At the end of October, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition called Chronic renal failure (or Chronic kidney disease), for which he will need a kidney transplant surgery.  This operation will cost about $30,000.  As this is not financially feasible for Islambek and his family, we are relying on your support to give them a chance to be able to afford this expensive procedure.  Funds will also go to living costs for Islambek’s family while they support him through the surgery.  Groups at Islambek’s university have already begun fundraising, and we hope to add to those efforts as much as possible and to raise our goal of $30,000 by April 30th.

Islambek, originally from the remote region of Talas, Kyrgyzstan, is now a student at KIMEP University in Almaty, Kazakhstan.  Islambek currently attends KIMEP through the U.S.-CAEF scholarship, and is a very bright student.  When he was still in high school, he participated in the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program, which provides qualified students an opportunity to study in the U.S. for one academic year and stay with a host family.  He created a special spot in the heart of his host family and attended Middletown High School in Maryland, where he impressed students and staff alike with his charm, flexibility, and desire to make a positive impact on the world.  Islambek was also a member of the competitive English Access Microscholarship Program, which provides English language skills to 13-20 year olds from economically disadvantaged sectors.  Both of these programs are sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

Please consider donating to Islambek Ashyraliev's medical fund.  This is a young man who has made the most of every opportunity that has come his way, and given back with countless hours of community service.  His goal is to learn from others, and ultimately make his country a better, stronger place.

In his personal statement for the U.S.-CAEF application, he wrote, “I like the international atmosphere of KIMEP.  By talking with lots of people of other nationalities, I will learn about their different lives.  With the education that I will get from KIMEP, I will make big changes in the Central Asian economy.”

He has a heart as big as the world; please help us get him a new kidney!
