“In every town and village”, this was Srila Prabhupada’s vision for ISKCON. This year, on the auspicious occasion of Gaur Purnima, devotees officially registered a local chapter of ISKCON in Indianapolis.
Indianapolis is one of the fastest growing mid-west cities in the United States with major contributions coming from education, health care and finance. It is befitting to have a temple here for such a dynamic community.
Until now, devotees have been outgrowing their weekly sessions at different devotee’s homes. The time has come to establish a beautiful Krishna Temple in this wonderful city. But this will not be possible without the generous offerings of devotees worldwide. Our temple has been envisioned as a spiritual center for education and community, and a home for families for generations to come.
Recently, we have been able to acquire a beautiful church in south Indianapolis. The devotees put together personal funds from their own savings, and took a loan, to buy this church. We are delighted to announce that the temple has been purchased, and the community has started to gather here weekly. However, there are a lot of renovations and improvements that need to be completed. Here is where we need our greater devotee family and well-wishers to help us, as there is a lot of work that still needs to be done. We are launching an official fundraising effort. EVERY PENNY COUNTS as we humbly build a home for Sri Krishna where our children can worship.
