                International Goat, Sheep, Camelid Registry (formerly IDGR)

My name is Peggy Boone.  Not only am I reaching out to all of you goat breeders and enthusiasts for financial aid for IGSCR, but am also excited to help promote this very important registry to make it sustainable for the future.  https://www.igscr-idgr.com

Just a Little Bit of Registry History
A more full account of our history can be found in the Goat Journal page 34 in the January/February 2019 issue

IDGR (now IGSCR) has been a vital resource to goat and sheep producers for more than 30 years.  It was founded in 1980 by Bruce Hair in Texas and has gone through several owners, until it is now owned by Peggy.  We have always been a unique affordable registry who take great care to complete very accurate registrations.  We have and continue to be known for Open Herd Books, as we believe that there are older bloodlines and strains of the various breeds who are surfacing and we also believe that breeds should be allowed to upgraded to higher herd books.   What are Open Herd Books?  It means that you will always be able to breed your goats up to purebred status. The only exception to this is with the San Clemente Island goats.  They are a unique DNA and breeders do not want any breeding up, but to breed purebreds right from the start.  We also allow creation of new breeds.

What originally attracted me; Peggy, to become a member of IDGR was the Unique Milk testing program and also that they would register grade Nigerian Dwarf, as long as these goats met strict breed standards.  I was also intrigued that a requirement for registration of animals is submission of photos for Mini Breeds the height measurement requirement.

     * IDGR was the very first registry to register the Nigerian Dwarf in the Americas, recognizing that they were very definitely unique from the
          African Pygmy.  We also spent three years researching these little goats.  Our registry, even today has remained a strong support for the Nigerian Dwarf breed.
   *   We were the first to create a herd book for the Mini Nubian breed, as well.  Mini Nubians are a cross between the Nigerian Dwarf and standard
       Nubian.
   *   IDGR (now IGSCR) is the registry for the endangered goat breed; San Clemente Island (critically endangered species of goat).

With all these breeds, we work closely with the breeders to create breed standards and descriptions, fulfill needs of the owners and breeders to more fully promote and build up the breeds.

We register: Standard Dairy, Mini Dairy, Nigerian Dwarf, Pygmy, Fiber breeds and Endangered breeds.  Pictured below are just a couple breeds are just a couple goat breeds whom we register and promote.

Nigerian Dwarf
Top two photos are some very early day Nigerian dwarf.  The bottom to are modern day Nigerian Dwarf. Do you see the similarities?

San Clementine Island goats
We currently have a project going on where we are researching records (with the help of registry members and non-members) to find, pedigree, obtain information on the goats and register the San Clemente Island Goats. We are the registry for that endangered species of goats. They have a rich history behind them and are unique to the goat breeds.

Our Unique Programs
*   Registrations
* Pedigree Research (A small team of pedigree researchers who spend much time on that project, to accurately preserve bloodlines and lineages
*   Unique tiered Milk Testing  (to more fully record milk production and show excellence of extended lactation)
*   Registry of Merit (This program records animals of excellence who give birth easily and can raise their own young. This is a very rare trait of today's goats, as this is often now bred out of them. This is very unfortunate that this has happened.)

Coming Programs
* Show (online and live
* Conformation Evaluation

Above is example of an IGSCR Milk test and also Registry of Merit test recipient.  This is is a doe who milked 1470 pounds milk in 663 days in milk, with 70 pounds butterfat. She easily raised her babies prior to being milked (for two months, so that milk is not reflected in the 1470 pounds). Flutter easily kids unassisted everytime. This is what our unique milk test program and Registry of Merit programs promote... the extended lactations, specific breakdown categories of testing and also their mothering abilities.  These types of tests, which are very unique, aid breeders in bettering their animals and genetics

A Little Bit About Me

I,  Peggy  took  over  the  registry  in March 2018.  Being a ranch girl since I was a little child, I know the value of well bred animals who will stand strong, doing the job for their owners that the animals were bred to do.  In my own herd of dairy goats, they keep milking through unbeatable odds; supplying a rich source of creamy milk for families who love their milk.    I have been in the business of farming since a wee child and am a skilled genealogist.  I love animals and treat them as my own family.

Your Support
With your much appreciated financial support we at IGSCR will be able to easily keep up with increasing projects and registrations. This is a campaign that ALL goat enthusiasts will want to support.  Maintaining this kind of information and rich history of many breeds is invaluable to all goat owners and enthusiasts for NOW and the FUTURE. This includes the San Clementine Island goats who have a very unique DNA from other breeds.

We  can't  thank  you  enough for stopping  by  and  helping us  continue  to  preserve  these  special  breeds  and  species.  We  will  be  forever  grateful  for
your  help.  I appreciate all your support and comments, so that I can embrace my passion for pedigrees and goat breeds, and share all the valuable information that we have as a registry and continue to build up the various goat breeds.

                A huge country THANK YOU!... from the bottom of my heart
