Hello! My name is Kylie Pettis and I am currently a sophomore at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. I am a Cyber Threat Intelligence and Defense major (or simply put: cyber security major). On campus I am also involved in Delta Zeta and am actively working with other students to get a Cyber Security Club recognized on campus that I will be the president of.
I have been accepted into an internship abroad program in Dublin, Ireland with Global Experiences. It is an 8-week internship program with a technology company in Ireland from June 2nd, 2018 to July 28th, 2018. The program itself is about $8,000 which includes housing, transportation when in Ireland, travel insurance, and other fees. It does not include the flight to and from Dublin, so that is another cost I am including.
I am actively working both on and off campus to pay for college tuition and this program, as well as looking and applying for scholarships. I am asking for donations to help finish paying for the program, flights, and other miscellaneous things that I might need when abroad. These donations will help me become a better computer engineer and cyber security specialist as it will give me industry experience. This opportunity will allow me to strengthen my general knowledge of the computers, coding, and cyber world, while also allowing me to experience being abroad for the first time.
I would truly appreciate any and all help from family and friends. I promise to make the best of this experience and to pay it forward!
