Cancer can F off.

I have set up this page because so many friends have asked how they can help me,  rather than receive 100 lasagnes at my door - the honest answer is I would prefer that they use the money they would have spent on lasagne ingredients and donate here instead.  (I don't trust your cooking... ) 

I have been recently diagnosed with Stage 3 HER2+ Breast Cancer which has spread to my lymph nodes.  It has come out of nowhere and knocked us all  for six.  

I discovered a lump two weeks ago so had a mammogram which came back all clear so I wasn't overly concerned and just assumed it was a cyst.  Luckily my doctor followed up with me and made me have an ultrasound which then led to a biopsy which confirmed it was a malignant tumour.

I still consider myself lucky though because I have an awesome oncology and breast care team and they are extremely confident that this is curable. 

I start chemo tomorrow for six months, then have surgery, then have radiation treatment.  It will be a 12 month journey which I am sure will be shitty at times but we'll get it through it and look back on those 12 months as a bump in the road.  On the plus side - I should get a new pair of boobs out of it and for the next 12 months I'll have a valid excuse to look like crap and be moody and tired. I heard as well that wine and food will taste like sh#t so hopefully I will lose some weight - you gotta focus on the positives!  

As you all know inappropriate humour is my go to remedy for anything - including this!

Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women in Australia - if it can happen to me it can happen to anyone. I had no prior family history and had all my mammograms done routinely every two years. Please ladies - get your boobs checked but don't just rely on a mammogram - combine it with an ultrasound.   
 
All I can say is Cancer picked the wrong b*tch to mess with! I will keep you all updated on my Inappropriate C word journey.
