In Those Genes, is a podcast that uses genetics to uncover the lost identities of African descended Americans through the lens of Black culture.
Last summer we won the Inagural Spotify SoundUp Bootcamp ( https://www.elle.com/culture/a22074514/spotify-sound-up-bootcamp-winners/) . The award was $10,000 and was used to fund our pilot episode. However, after Uncle Sam took his cut, it quickly turned into much less ! Our show is highly produced; filled with music, sound bites, guests appearances, and a team that works really hard to bring it all together, costing more than most podcasts.
Good news is.....we completed our pilot episode (not public yet) and we are working hard to finish the first season , 46 Chromosomes and a Mule!
It is important to us that our show is not influenced in ANY way that would prevent us from truth telling! Thus, it will take time and money to deliver this project to you this year.
