In memory of Mimosa at Alpaca Therapy

Donation protected
Mimosa the therapy alpaca was fatally injured in a dog attack at Giralang, ACT on 12 March 2019. The owner of the dog made no attempt to stop the attack, instead choosing to film the attack.

Mimosa, along with fellow alpaca Hercules, was part of the non profit organisation Alpaca Therapy, ran by Nils Lantzke and wife Linda.

Nils Lantzke and his therapy apacas have been visiting hospitals, palliative care facilities, retirement villages and hostels for over 15 years to provide mental health support to vulnerable members of society.

Alpaca Therapy relies on donations with Nils and Linda also paying out of their own pockets to keep the organisation running.

Nils was said to be shaken and distraught by the violent loss of Mimosa but already plans to train a replacement alpaca to continue the good work.

Any funds raised will go to Alpaca Therapy to help with training, housing and feeding the new and existing therapy alpacas.

If anyone has any information about the attack or comes across the video please contact Alpaca Therapy or the Domestic Animal Service ACT.
