In Memory of Luis Colon

Luis Colon was quite possibly the brightest of all souls. He was the light in a dark sky for so many people around him. He has impacted so many lives in a positive way. For those of you who knew Luis from childhood, was anyone more well-known and loved? For those of you that went to Cortland, how many sentences into a new conversation with a Cortland Alumni did you say "Wait, do you know Luis?"
We are all shocked and deeply saddened by this loss. It's hit a chord in all of us that we didn't know was there. Unexpected deaths are even harder to cope with, and loved ones are often left with unplanned costs and expenses. Luis meant so much to so many people, so it's only appropriate to rally together when he needs us the most.
Please help us raise money to cover funeral & memorial costs for his family that is in desperate need of support. Any money raised in excess of the funding needed to give Luis the memorial service he deserves will be donated to the Hastings-on-Hudson Community Center to set up a fund in Luis' name, which will be used to allow less fortunate children an opportunity to attend the Hastings Day Camp, where Luis went as a child and later on became a counselor.
We thank everyone for their continued support during this difficult time.
UPDATE: The wake service for Luis Colon will be this Saturday, May 12th from 10am-3pm at the Hastings Funeral Home in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.

My name is Anthony Refino and I am from Thornwood, NY. I currently live in Baldwin, NY. I was a very close friend to Luis and lived with him in Cortland. We always remained very close and were in contact daily up until his untimely passing.
The funds we raise will be used to pay for the funeral services arranged by Luis' family, which will include transport, wake services, equipment rental, flowers, mass cards, guest book, supervision and cremation/interment services.
I will withdraw this money in preparation for the services and distribute the contributions directly to the funeral home and community center.
