In Loving Memory of Tyler Mathew Peterson

R.I.P Tyler Mathew Peterson

On December 26th, 2018, the day after Christmas, my best friend lost her husband in a horrible car accident in Sarasota where he was working. In being taken from us so early at just 23, he was forced to leave behind his newborn 3 month old son, Ezra, and his wife, Amy, just a few short days before their second anniversary. He was not only a father and husband, but a beloved brother, son, and friend to so many.

Tyler Peterson was the most fun-loving, goofy, and caring person many of us had the pleasure of meeting. The hilarious stories of Tyler are endless. He had a quality in him to light up the room and put on a show at the drop of a hat. He was such a hardworker and really did all that he could for Amy and Ezra who were just the highlight of his life. It's so hard to believe that such a lively person with such a huge personality is really gone. We are all just heart-broken that he is no longer with us. The world lost a beautiful soul, and I know a part of Amy has gone with him too.

I am trying to raise this money for not only the memorial and cremation expenses, but also for the future financial support for Amy and their newborn, Ezra. Many have expressed their want to help out in this tragic time, and in leu of flowers or cards, I am trying to raise this money for them because I know that realistically this is the help they are going to need.  I can't even imagine the pain this family is in. After all this family has been through, with losing their little girl due to a birth defect and now losing Tyler, it's just hard to put into words how much this family has gone through. So please, whatever you are able to donate is very much appreciated.

I know Tyler would thank you too.

We just recently recieved a Facebook message from one of the closest witnesses to the accidents who says that Tyler saved her and her husband's life that day. For those who dont know, Tyler was driving a semitruck for work when the car in front of him stopped suddenly. Instead of colliding into the person in front of him, he swerved to the side but ended up hitting a pole. We just wanted to share what they wrote so that everyone has a chance to see the kind of man that Tyler was.

"My name is Tami Hunter, my husband Rob and I were the closest witnesses to the accident. We were at the cross walk waiting for the light to change heading to the store across the street to get our kids some milk for breakfast when it happened.
I just wanted to reach out to you and tell you how sorry I am for your loss, but also to tell you that your husband was a hero that day.
The truck he was driving is estimated to have come within 1 inch of where we were at. It all happened so fast and the last thing I remember hearing before the crash was my husband saying “we are about to die”..... we still can’t figure out how it missed us, but our belief is that your husband did everything he could in that moment to make sure no one else was hurt. The SUV stopped so suddenly and abruptly and that is what started the chain reaction, your husbands actions in that moment saved so many people.
Me and my husband ran over to your husband 1st and I want you to know Rob tried so hard to get the door open to get him out and stayed there until Fire and rescue arrived even though people were yelling to get back from all the diesel fuel spilling out on that side, my husband refused to move until emergency personal arrived, because like I said earlier.....your husband was our hero that day.
I will forever struggle with the events of that day, but there is now a man my family had never met who we will now never forget.
I’m hugging my family a lot tighter now as my heart breaks for yours.

I know there are no words to ease your pain, and I was afraid to even contact you, but it was important to me that you knew that he died a hero and will always be known as one by my entire family.

Again, I am so very sorry.
Tami Hunter"
