Tatum Ajene is adjusting well to life in our chaotic household! His big brothers are very amused by him and Niall loves giving him kisses. Tatum's arrival was everything his Mommy & Daddy had prayed for - a quick, natural delivery.

My water broke at 330am and much to my own mom's protests, I went back to bed to rest and wait for contractions to begin. At 630am, contractions finally started. My best friend, LeAnna arrived at our place at 730am to drive me to the hospital. We made it to the hospital at 745am and little Tatum made his debut at 830am!

This past week has been bitter sweet. My happiness at holding my healthy baby boy is clouded by my grief in losing Ajene so suddenly. I think about how excited Ajene was to see how Lennox and Niall would react to their baby brother. How he was looking forward to taking the boys to their first Lakers game and coaching their sports teams. How we had already planned our first date night for after Tatum had arrived - sushi and sake in Hermosa Beach. How we had dreamed of more travel to places like Cuba, Amsterdam and Ireland. It is hard to let go of so many unrealized dreams. My heart aches for Ajene every morning when I wake up and realize this isn't actually a bad dream. It aches for him when I have a cup of coffee and he isnt there to talk about what's going on in the news or tell me how he thinks I should stop watching Wendy Williams. It aches for him when I see Lennox look at Ajene's photo and then look out the window at 630pm waiting for his daddy to come home from work.

I never knew how deep the well of grief goes. It feels like an endless source of tears and anger and emptiness. None of it makes sense or feels fair. But I have these beautiful boys that we created out of our love for each other. So I will keep loving on them. Praying through the pain and taking one day at a time, one hour, one minute.

Our sweet, baby boy, Tatum Ajene Reign Robertson, arrived May 26th 2019 at 8:30am. He weighed in at 7lbs 13 oz and 21.5 inches long.

Thank you to everyone who rallied around our family on a day when we were missing Ajene's strong, calming physical presence so very much. But I could feel Aje with me helping me to usher our precious baby into the world.

Thank you LeAnna for being my best friend and unexpected birthing doula. Driving me safely to the hospital and coaching me through the labor and delivery. And thank you for holding my hand and guiding me through this mourning process as only a DeBaptiste could. Thank you to Karra, Kimberly, and Chante for rushing over early in the morning to help my mom with Lennox and Niall. Thank you to my sister, Erin for stepping in as Auntie-Mommy these past few weeks coming over almost every night to help me with the boys even when you were exhausted from work. Thank you to Marie for being my constant prayer partner and friend. Thank you Victor & Ericka. My go-twos for pretty much everything. You are family. Thank you to West Coast Aunties Reena, Ambika, Paula, Shalene & Courtney always selfless and ready to serve in any capacity. Thank you to East Coast Aunties, Dee, Danielle, Carla, & Kelly. You are my sisters always. Thank you to my other bestie, Tricia. Lending me your strength and love since 1998! Thank you to my midwife, Racha, a wealth of knowledge, love and support. Thank you to Uncle Clarence, Sydace, Slim, Godwin, and countless Uncles from Seattle who are ready to protect and teach the boys all about who their daddy was. Thank you to Ajene's co-workers and friends. Thank you to neighbors and strangers and everyone who has contributed to this Gofundme, meal train, and our Amazon wishlist.

Thank you to my sister & brother-in-love, Gavin & LaShanda for being so strong and supportive and stepping in in Ajene's absence. Thank you to my other brother-in-love Omar and big sister, Angela - supermommy & superwoman. You gave me strength when I was at my weakest. And thank you to my mom who hasn't left my side in the past 3 weeks. You've stepped outside of yourself over & over again to be there for me and the boys, doing anything and everything we need. And thank you Pop Charlie for holding it down in P.A. while Mom is here with us.

Here is a photo of Ajene from 2 years ago when Niall was born. I know he had this same smile of pride on his face in heaven yesterday. We love you Ajene!

This is one of my favorite photos of Ajene I took while we were in Venice, Italy. It captures so much of his spirit, zest for life, travel, and adventure.

The past few weeks have been the most difficult & darkest of my life. Ajene was my best friend, soulmate, protector, and partner in all things. His absence has been soul crushing. The tears flow from the moment I wake up in the morning and throughout the night. But still, if God told me the day that I met Ajene, that I would only have 7 years with him, but those 7 years would be filled with the deepest love and most wonderful moments, I would have said yes a thousand times.

I continue to pray for strength daily and am eternally grateful for the support and love that has surrounded our family. It is amazing the village that has stepped up so that myself and the boys have a soft place to fall. I can't express how the continued phone calls, texts, home visits, gifts, and meals have lightened the load both spiritually and financially.

Baby Robertson has still not arrived yet, but my doctor says baby is measuring 8 lbs and looks strong and healthy. Please continue to pray for my labor and delivery. Although my heart feels weak imagining doing this without Ajene there coaching me and holding my hand, I know he will be there in spirit and so will our village.

Sending love to you all from the bottom of my heart.
