At approximately 2:30am on March 23, 2019, our dearest Giao Pham was killed in a car accident in San Diego, CA.  He was 40 years old.  A longtime resident of San Francisco, Giao was on vacation in San Diego with friends.  After a night out, he and one friend got into a Lyft for the 5 minute ride back to their hotel.  While on the freeway, a young and drunk female driver plowed into them sending both vehicles into the embankment.  Giao was wearing his seat belt, but was killed upon impact.  Giao was the only fatality in the accident (though all other passengers involved remain in critical condition and we pray for their recovery).

Giao was loved by so many people.  He was the second to youngest of 10 kids...10!  Can you imagine how quickly he had to eat to get enough food??  Maybe that's what sparked his love for cooking!  Giao was an amazing cook and everyone always looked forward to his meals.  His culinary goal was to master his mother's recipes and even traveled to Vietnam last February to fully immerse himself in the Vietnamese cooking culture.  He will always be remembered by his passion for food and music, both of which were his ways of showing his love.

The Pham family has set up this fund to help with Giao's funeral expenses.  We thank you for your love, prayers, texts and calls during this shocking and difficult time.  We humbly ask and thank you for a donation of any amount.  While devastated by this loss, we take comfort in knowing that he made such a positive impact on his (many!) friends, family, co-workers and the gay community.

Giao is survived by both of his parents, 8 brothers and sisters, 8 nieces and nephews, his dog Matty and his partner of 10 years, John.

On behalf of John and the entire Pham family, thank you for your love and generosity.  Please remember to never drink and drive.
