IMPORTANT: This is the fundraiser for 2017.

The campaign for 2018 can be found here:

At 5:00pm on Friday June 23, 2017, eight brave and foolish improvisers will take the Hideout stage and stay there until 5pm on Sunday the 25th, performing 48 STRAIGHT HOURS of improvisational theatre and comedy without sleep or respite.

Each hour of the marathon will be a separate show, featuring classic and upcoming Hideout formats, one-off shows never to be seen again, and guest troupes and players from Austin’s ever-growing improv community.

But WHY are we doing this??

The entire Marathon is a fundraiser for  The Hideout Youth and Building Connections (special needs) program. The money raised during this event helps pay the tuition for kids to participate in summer camps or classes who other wise could not afford it.

Improv helps lives – no, really, it does! Kids who take improv classes at the Hideout Theatre learn how to hone their listening skills, express themselves creatively, work and play with others, take risks, and communicate effectively. With classes expanding to serve youth on the Autism Spectrum and at-risk youth, the impact of the Hideout youth programming has continued to grow.

This year’s core marathon improvisers will be Craig Kotfas, J.R. Zambrano, Katie Dahm, Margaret Rose, Patti Stiles, Rob Yoho, Ryan Austin, and Yamina Khouane.

If you're here because of one them, give them a shoutout in the comments!

Every year we add another hour to the Marathon, so this is our longest one yet! 48 hours (2 full days!) full of original programming.

Our goal is also the largest it's ever been: $5,000. It will be work, but we're confident we can do it with your help. We believe in improv's capacity to make lives better, and we're eager to provide another year of classes and shows to Austin.

You can view the entire schedule of the Marathon and purchase tickets here:

"The Building Connections program at the Hideout Theatre is the best of its kind in the nation, maybe the world. It combines a high quality curriculum with skilled and dedicated instructors who collaborate with a level of professionalism that most schools and universities would envy."

We did it! Our core 8 players made it through 48 hours of shows, guests, and no sleep!

They're currently sleeping right now, I assure you.

We had hundreds of performers join them over the weekend, and even more audience members.

Most importantly, we (at last count) raised $6,638 in donations from you and people like you! Wow, that is wildly more than our initial goal of $5,000.

The GoFundMe is still open for the time being, so spread the word to push us to $7500.

But we are thrilled. And tired. And thankful.

See you soon.

With just under SIX hours left to go in the 48 Hour Improv Marathon, we've had some AMAZING moments. Rapping, tales of eldritch horror, feats of improv wizardry, scenes about wizardry, blacklight puppetry, dark rituals, and a lot of love, support, and heart.

We are currently $15 from hitting $6,000, which is $1000 over our original goal and $1500 from our new goal.

If you're in Austin, come on down to witness the final hours. If you're not, watch the stream at

You guys! Five hours ago we hit our initial fundraising goal of $5000!

This very sleepy video by co-producer Megan Venable explains it all, and announces that our new stretch goal is $7500.

The best part is that you can hear the insane sounds of I'll Take the Physical Challenge going on in the background.

Thank you so much, everybody who donated, either their money, their time, or both.

Let's keep it going.
We did it!
