Rev. Mary & Granny's First Album!
For nearly five years, REVEREND MARY and GRANNY'S BLUE-MERS have made it their business to revive, rework, and perform, vintage "dirty blues" at some of New York's most popular night-spots, including The Duplex, The West End Lounge, Pianos, Otto's, Freddy's Bar & Backroom, with new events being planned for Don't Tell Mama Cabaret Theater. Reverend Mary (Mary Elizabeth Micari) and raucous group of singers and musicians have become synonymous with tunes first made famous by Bessie Smith, Sophie Tucker, Mae West, and Ida Cox to name a few.
NOW IT'S TIME TO GIVE THESE AN ENDURING PLACE. a CD !!!!
But its MORE than just getting these tunes recorded ...
Much of these pieces have never been sung (to the public) before and the few recordings of them are, in any way, accessible.
How wonderful would it be to commit these songs for posterity in NEW RECORDINGS so...
the work can be spread to new audiences...
revitalize interest in this genre...
simply... bring them to life!
The Granny Gang is planning to enter the recording studio by Fall 2018.

IMAGINE giving the original artists the acknowledgement they deserve.
IMAGINE knowing that - for as little as a dollar - you have a hand in the curation of an entire musical genre.
Any donation ... ANY DONATION will bring us closer to fulfilling this goal.
On behalf of Ida Cox, Bessie Smith, Mae West, Sophie Tucker, Clarence Williams I, L'il Johnson, Clara Smith, Julia Lewis, Franke "Half-Pint" Jackson, and myriad other unsung musical pioneers, THANK YOU.
