Hurricane Matthew Destroyed My Home
During hurricane Matthew a gigantic oak tree crushed through our home on Mc Kenzie St in Whiteville completely destroying the kitchen and living room, as well as, severly damaging the rest of our home making it completely uninhabitable. On top of that, it destoyed our only vehicle by severly flooding it and a large tree beach broke the windshield and the hood, it is undrivable. Our insurance will not cover any of the damage and we unfortunately rent our home and did not have any renter's insurance. I was in the kitchen when it happened and thank God he was with me and he kept me safe. I crawled out of their with only a few bumps and bruises. It is a miracle we made it out of this alive. Our landlord is diligently working with his insurance to get contractors working on the house as soon as possible and is doing everything he can, but it is going to take some time. In the meantime we have nowhere to live while it is being done and no car to drive at all. We have been staying at the emergency hurricane shelter that Red Cross had set up at Edgewood Elementary school, but I don't know how much longer they will be open especially since as of today most people have gotten power back on in there homes. I have two jobs that are both located out of town and I will definitely lose them without a vehicle to get to and from work. I am already losing our income every day I am unable to get there now. Our family just moved to this house a few months ago and we were excited to have this be our home where we raised our kids and had a new fresh start in our lives and now it is destroyed. We have lost so much and have nowhere to go from here without a little help. God is in control and I know we will be alright. We just need some help to rebuild our life, have somewhere to live right now and some type of transportation. Thank you for your prayers and anything you could help our family with. God Bless.
