Shipping Costs: Harvey Book Drive

Julie Soisson was a graduate of Saline HIgh School, in Saline, MI.  She is now a Kindergarten teacher in Katy, TX, just west of Houston.  While her school building suffered manageable damage from Hurricane Harvey, many elementary schools in her area had their libraries ruined by flooding.  She still has friends and relatives in the Saline community, so she reached out for donations of K-6 children's books.  She will distribute them to those schools in her area hardest hit by Harvey.
The Saline District Library along with the Friends of the Library, gave permission for a book drive to collect books to send to Julie.  The drive is being organized by Karen Viera and Lynne Kochmanski, friends of Julie's from the Saline, MI community.  The outpouring of support from the community has been overwhelming.  In just 3 days, over 50 bags of children's books have been collected, along with teacher materials, and games.  In order to ship these to Katy, TX, we have set up a GoFundMe site to raise funds for shipping.  The money will be used to buy shipping boxes, which our local UPS store has offered to give us at a 50% discount, packing tape, packing materials, and shipping costs through the USPS,  media mail service.  We estimate the cost of sending 10 boxes to be $200.
We would like to send the books by the end of September.  The children and teachers in the Katy, TX, area will be truly grateful for these donations as they begin their school year in the midst of the horrible flooding from Harvey.
