Chris Hukill's Medical Fund

On Friday April 22, 2016 at 4pm Chris Hukill fell off his mountain bike about 200 feet down the Telonics mountain in Laguna Canyon. He survived the fall, but he is in critical care and suffered a spinal cord injury. Chris will need aggresive physical therapy in order to regain movement in his arms and legs and will be out of work for a long time.

We are looking for support to cover medical costs, physical therapy, and costs to keep his business (Hukill Paint and Graphics) running while he is recovering.

Anything you can donate will help, but please do not feel obligated to donate money. The Hukill family is just looking for support in the form of visits to Chris, prayers, any help with his business, and any other type of support you can offer.

Chris is a very athletic person who loves to ride his mountain bike, hike, and be outdoors. We would love to get him the best care possible so he can do these activities that he loves so much again!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I wanted to share that my family is so grateful for all of the generous donations that people made after my fathers accident. It's been about 7 months since the accident and my father has made huge progress! He is walking now and has also started working again! He continues to go to Mission hospital for physical and occupational therapy. There is still some ways to go but we are all hopeful! My family wants to say thank you because he would not be where he is today without all of the love and support he has received from friends and family! With love, The Hukill Family

GREAT NEWS! My dads neck is fused, so he got to take his neck brace off today! He has to leave the chest brace on for another 6 weeks, he'll likely get that off in August. He is so relieved to have the neck brace off though, that thing was driving him crazy. He also got to come home for the day and eat at Olive Garden! He is able to transfer himself from the wheelchair to the car with the help of a board. Overall, his progress is really exciting!

Today my dad got to come home for the day to celebrate Father's Day! What a great gift! He has not been home for 2 months now. He will stay at the subacute facility for a few more weeks before he comes home permanently. But, it was nice to have him home for the day! He even got to pet the cat. We are so grateful for all of the progress he has made to be able to get to this point in his recovery!

Yesterday my dad walked 80 feet in a walker! He is making great progress everyday and has increased function in his arms, legs, hands, and feet. Everyday he grows stronger and everyone's support has really pushed him through this hard time. I want to say thank you to Jamie Wells for being his mentor and an inspiration to my dad! His advice, insight and different tools he has brought including a wheelchair have been so incredibly helpful! We are eternally grateful to him and everyone else!

I am so sympathetic to the family and friends beginning this journey. My daughter was also involved in a tragic spinal cord injury. Through massive research and recommendations, Chelsea is receiving exceptional rehabilitation at Craig Hospital. Rehabilitation will be the most important decision The sooner the better!
