Hudson Soup Kitchen Needs a Stove!

I'm a volunteer cook at Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Hudson NY , which serves 60% of the hungry in Columbia County. It provides 1000 cooked meals a month and during that time its food pantry supplies 500 families with donated groceries, meat, and produce. The Kitchen also gives away 250 food boxes at Thanksgving and Christmas, as well as toys and school supplies to 150 kids.
For years, staff and volunteers have cooked lunches and dinners in a cramped kitchen on the same old stove.
It barely holds the battered pots and pans needed for our daily meals, and it has an oven that struggles to reach the right temperature. Other than this ratty stove and freezers, we have no other appliances. Our knives are dull and our utensils are old. One small room next to the kitchen serves as both dining area and food pantry.
The good news! A local citizen has made a bigger space available in a building a few blocks away. However, although local stores and farms provide most of the food we cook and give away, we're on our own in terms of funding the Soup Kitchen's supplies and operations. Our wonderful director has to raise all the money herself, and there's not enough left over to outfit a new kitchen.
So, I'm hoping you'll help buy us a new stove!
We need one large and powerful enough, not only to cook our current meals efficiently, but also to allow for expansion of the Kitchen's food programs to reach even more members in our community.
Of course, we need lots of other stuff, including a walk-in cooler, a dishwasher, good utensils, steamer trays, steel counters, and real plates (not horrible plastic foam).
But right now, I'm just asking for the stove!
