Help Joshua Keep Moving

$14,935 of $50,000 goal

Hello! My name is Joshua Scoble. I am eleven-years-old and just started middle school in Emmaus, PA. I have Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). FOP is quite rare, 1 in 2 million people are born with it and there are approximatly 800 confirmed cases worldwide.   Essentially, FOP causes my muscles and ligaments to turn to bone. Any type of trauma,  common cold, or a virus could trigger a “flare”.  A “flare” is when the body generates new bone growth. The new bone growth is prohibiting me from doing simple things such as walking and bending any of my joints. Therefore, I can no longer bend my body in a position that will allow me to get in and out of a car.
Because FOP is a progressive disorder, my mobility is steadily declining, which brings me to why I am reaching out for your help. I recently slipped and fell which resulted in a fracture of my left femur.  My medical insurance just approved a motorized wheelchair for me which weighs nearly 400 lbs.! Because of my recent injury, I will be spending a lot of time in my new wheelchair.  The reason I need your help is because my mom and dad need a special vehicle to transport me and my new wheels! The average wheelchair accessible vehicle fit for my needs is approximately $60,000!  In addition, my house is not 100% wheelchair friendly and will need some modifications in order for me to get into my bedroom. My family and friends have been actively raising funds for FOP research. Every penny that has been raised, over the past 11 years, went directly to FOP research. My family and I are asking for your help in raising money towards a vehicle that will help make me more mobile. I also will be using fund to help make my house wheel chair friendly allowing me to move around  my house better!
Please donate to my GoFundMe account! Any amount will help and is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment and watch my video.  All donations will be used towards house modifications, purchasing & maintenance of a handicapped vechicle and general  &  medical needs for Joshua to sustain as much of his independence as possible!
Thank you,
Joshua Scoble

Last Thursday Joshua got his new wheel chair accessible van! As you can see in the photo...his smile is worth a thousands words! Joshua and his family are thrilled and can't even begin to express what this means to them. The fact that now they can go for a drive and Joshua can sit comfortably and he can see out of the windows and look around is just completely priceless to them. Thanks to everyone who donated to the go fund me page as we were able to raise $20,000 towards the purchase of the vehicle and then much to our surprise a very kind man and his family (they wish to remain anonymous) donated the balance of the money to purchase the van. The burden that has been lifted off of the Coble's and our entire family will never be forgotten and will forever be appreciated! There are truly angels among us! We will continue this go fund me campaign in an effort to continue to raise funds for Joshua as his needs are forever changing and he is always in need of new adaptive items. Money will also be used for maintenance and up keep on his van. THANK YOU!!!!
