The Issue
Every HSC student would benefit from having access to a private tutor.
Maybe they are struggling to understand a difficult concept taught in class. Maybe they can't solve a past paper question and need some one-to-one help. Maybe they don't know where to start on an at-home assessment.
At such times, there are some lucky students who seek help from their private tutor. But for most students, they struggle on the best they can, usually because their family can't afford one-to-one tuition.
This is unfair.
We believe education should be an even playing field, where all students are given equal opportunity to reach their maximum potential. It shouldn't matter whether you live on the North Shore, deep in Western Sydney or in Regional NSW, every student deserves access to the same help in their times of learning need. Anything less is an injustice to those students being disadvantaged because of financial circumstances beyond their control.
Disrupt the status quo
We want to disrupt the existing tutoring model by making quality help available to every HSC student for FREE.
We are building a website/app that will create a community where knowledge is shared via live video conversations. An online community where anyone with high level skills in a HSC subject can share their knowledge to a current student. These "gurus" might be ex-students wanting to assist the next cohort behind them. Or these "gurus" might be generous teachers who want to relieve stress and confusion as the final exams approach. Or these "gurus" might be uni-students who want to go back over some of their foundational skills from the HSC.
But regardless of their motivation or their location, these gurus will be available to answer any question in real-time via a live video chat.
This website/app will be called GuruNow.
Partner with us
GuruNow will provide free educational help to students who want to excel but can't afford private tuition or study camps etc. However to provide it free will require support from generous individuals and organisations.
Will you partner to get GuruNow off the ground?
There are 3 ways to help:
1. Signup to be a Guru
In the beginning GuruNow will provide help in the 2 largest HSC subjects (English & Maths). We will need gurus to be available to answer questions, especially as the HSC gets closer and the pressure goes up.

2. Help finance the website/app
There are many costs associated with developing and maintaining a free website/app. For example, development & maintenance of the website/app ($2000 remaining), marketing and promotion ($1500 for google/Facebook ads), Guru incentives ($1000 - to reward active Gurus), ongoing server costs ($800), legal & accounting ($1300 - to setup a business compliant with government regulations etc).
We need to raise $7,500 to get GuruNow up and running. Will you partner with us? Each contribution will help build a better and fairer access to HSC help for all students.
In the long run we hope the website/app will be self-sustaining, but we need your help to get it started.
