Last Friday, Dec 6th, my Dad and stepmom Lyla lost their house in a fire. Our family has been through multiple tragedies, but nothing had prepared us for this. All that remains of the house we grew up in are a few walls and a few pieces of soggy, smokey clothing.

This past weekend we went through the house to try to find anything salvageable, but basically everything was gone save for some clothes in a couple spare dressers. Working side by side, my brother and I were trying to wrap our heads around the loss of our childhood home and the memories it held, and imagining what it must feel like for my Dad and Lyla to literally only have what they wore to work.

The most heart-wrenching part of it all is the loss of Carbon, the sweetest black lab who followed Lyla like a shadow, and always let her know when she was late giving him his toast.

We'd like to help Steve and Lyla out by raising a few dollars to help them get back on their feet. This will definitely be a difficult holiday season, and we'd like to help brighten it just a bit for them.
