HOPE for Gwenyth

Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and well-wishers,

It is with a heavy heart that we create this page.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2017 our precious four-year-old, Gwenyth was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

After a month of misdiagnosis with a sinus infection, Gwenyth was rushed to the E.R at Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, OR where we heard the heart crushing word: cancer.

Gwenyth hasn't been home since.

She has already undergone one spinal tap and her first two rounds of chemotherapy, a treatment so brutal it seems to bind her spirit in chains. As a parent, nothing prepares you to see your child lying in a hospital bed, so fragile. You want to take it away. You wish it were you lying there.

The road to recovery will be a long one. The doctors prescribed a minimum of eight months of chemo, along with various spinal taps and possible surgeries along the way. They are preparing us for 2-5 years of cancer therapy.

As this diagnosis came in so quickly, we are still trying to prepare for what lies ahead. Gwenyth still doesn't understand how sick she is. Even though there are days she can barely lift her head from the pillow, her spirit is high, insistent on being a normal four-year-old.

As adults, we know the reality that the treatment will bring, though we are trying to keep our eyes light and Hopeful, just like Gwenyth.
This has been especially hard on her big sister, Rilyn. The two girls are best friends, inseperable in life. Her sister is her protector and has held Gwenyth's hand through every storm her short life has weathered. Due to Gwenyth's compromised immune system, the two remain apart.

The two girls are being raised by their single father, who is trying desperately to be there for both of them. To comfort them, to stay strong for them, to offer them some sort of stability amidst the chaos. There are days where he wants to give up, though he refuses. His girls need him too much.

Even though Gwenyth will undergo chemo through her 5th birthday and will miss her first day of kindergarten, we have HOPE in her recovery. We know she is strong and brave. She is meant to do great things in this world.

We appreciate anyone who is willing to stand with us, donate, or simply keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

The purpose of this fund is to:

- Help with Medical Bills
- Help with lost wages for Gwenyth's single father. As a small business owner who is currently going through a messy divorce, his lost wages are taking a toll on his ability to live. He has yet to leave his daughter's side, and the bills are quickly piling up.
- Create as many prayers as possible for Gwenyth's recovery.

Thank you to all who take the time to let our Gwenyth into your hearts. Love to all!

Please check the UPDATES, as we plan to include everyone in this beautiful soul's recovery.
