Hello Everyone,

Great news! We have completed Phase II of the project with on-going training session taught by our new teachers. Signs of success for this phase included the delivery of instruments to the third indigenous town of Zapote, identified temporary youth center locations and the final arrangement of teachers from the local indigenous town of El Duin. We are very excited that the teachers now meet with the kids 3 days a week for 90 minute lessons - and the number of kids attending is growing.

We’ve begun the final phase of the project first involving the physical youth centers in at least two locations to accommodate a majority of the indigenous towns along coastal Aquila. The final portion of the project will be to insure project sustainability through self-funding and community support. And I think we have this one figured out - ukuleles!

We are working with the craftsman and instrument maker from Aquila featured in my last post . He builds harps from exotic woods native to his indigenous community and surrounding forests and has agreed to make high-end ukuleles in collaboration with San Diego luthiers. When we sell an ukulele, the craftsman, his family and his community will benefit. The Hope & Music project will benefit and be able to sustain itself with the proceeds going back into the program.

Thank you for your support and for the contributions that made this all possible. We continue to need support and contributions to help meet our final goal - we are so close. Please consider a contribution to the project or an alternative support we currently need. Please message me if you can help in the areas on instrument making, legal support to export/import from Mexico or access to woodworking tools.

Thank you again for all of you support and encouragement. Make sure to watch the new videos and please share with others.
