Edit: We have had so many generous people that we have been able to adjust our goal. A hospital bed was provided by the hospital, a family friend gave sheets, pillow cases etc. Another donor provided hoists, the wheelchair is provided and just needs some extras. A car is also in the works.
The money is released next week by Gofund me and we are ordering a Headrest, travel IV pole, Ambulance fund for non-emergencies and more wheelchair accessories. Any leftover funds will go to clothing for Denishar that's easy to wear, necessary bodily needs, and bedroom items. We are also looking for a nice big recliner for Lacey or other kids to sleep in on nights they need to stay in the room with her. There are also ongoing Physio costs. Funding only covers 1 session a week. This is not enough for a bed-bound patient. We will fund any extra sessions until any settlements.
Denishar is currently defying all odds after surviving a horrific accident which has seen her for the last 14 weeks in the care of PMH. It is every parent's greatest fear to see their child in such an unthinkable situation but for Denishar’s Mother and family, the situation is very real.
Denishar’s mother is currently at her bedside at every opportunity, in between raising her 6 other children and keeping the family unit together during what is a very difficult time for them all.
We have recently had our children admitted to the same room at PMH and have witnessed first hand the overwhelming display of love, dedication and positivity from Denishar’s mother and family towards Denishar. The response from Denishar is clear every time and it’s heartbreaking to see her crying when they leave and also to see how difficult it is for them to leave her.
Denishar can now go home where she needs to be, back with her loving family who will care for her. However, in order for this to happen the family home needs to be equipped with some essential items such as a specialist bed, a hoist and bathroom modifications. The family would also need a certain type of vehicle that is able to accommodate Denishar’s needs as well as providing enough room for her brothers and sisters to journey together.
The funds raised, will go directly towards the essential items Denishar needs to make it possible to continue her long road of recovery at home, with her family by her side and together as they are desperately trying to be. The staff at PMH have been outstanding in the care they have provided, but a hospital is no place to be long term for anyone, especially a child who can continue care at home with a little help from us.
