Three weeks ago, Miss Arizona, full of life and happy as anything suddenly became “wobbly”. One day she was seemingly perfect and the next, she was stumbling all over the place. Immediately rushing her into the veterinary clinic, Arizona spent four nights in observation with elevated Liver Protein Levels, and significant pupil movements. When her pupil activity was normal, she was sent home. It was mentioned that she had a foreign toxin, however no further information on diagnosis was given.
She then had a check up a week later and all seemed well. Her balanced whilst not fully regained, had dramatically gotten better since her release and everything was fine.
All until today, seemingly alright this morning, she snuggled under the covers, ate breakfast and was content. However after work this evening, I was notified she hadn’t eaten dinner (someone is home all day), and was lethargic. Another look over and she was additionally wobbly again, with a funny walk, stressing on her back legs like she’d stepped in gum.
At the clinic, which was an immediate emergency consult of $170, FIP (Feline Infectious Peritinitous) was a phrase tossed around. Having worked closely with rescues who have experienced this, I strongly feel Arizona does not have this due to her symptoms subsiding and suddenly increasing along with her age, and fact she doesn’t quite fit in with many clinical symptoms. I strongly believe there’s other causes not being investigated, however after an emergency with another kitty (Kodha) this week which has left a $1600 Vet bill, I’m at a financial end of seeking another opinion and funding extra tests to get to the bottom of Arizona’s mystery illness.
If the love I have for Ari, could be converted to money, there’d be no need to plead for help, however unfortunately it can’t and here we are. Arizona’s last vet visit was $800 for four days and a lot of IV fluids to try to wash out whatever toxin may have been in her liver, not including anything aside from a mere blood test. Anything at all that could be contributed towards getting Arizona a feasible diagnosis, cure and back home snuggling would be so so so appreciated.
Thankyou!
