Teaching disadvantaged people skills for work

Donation protected
The ability to work and provide for one’s self is taken for granted by many of us who are able-bodied.

The Hope Center in Hue Vietnam, focuses its efforts on assisting disabled and disadvantaged people by providing them with vocational training and work opportunities.

Since 1999, the Center has provided training in tailoring and industrial sewing. Their garment manufacturing portion supplies Hue City with uniforms for schools and hospitals and those profits help fund the school. In more recent years a handicraft division has been added. Artisans produce a range of goods from wire products to woven rattan bowls and hand crafted jewelry.

The Hope Center has helped just over 550 people since it’s inception. Trainees attend courses for 6 months to 1 year. The very first group, all deaf, are now employed by top tailoring businesses in Hue. Many of the admin staff are former students who have worked their way up through the ranks.

The City of Hue has informed the school that they will take back the land on which the school currently resides. Funds are desperately needed to relocate this school so that it can continue to operate. It’s patient staff works tirelessly to teach these skills to their loved students because they love the cause and they are aware of the value it can add to the lives of their disabled students.

Their desire is to keep doing this tireless job. They will do all of the work. We all have the easy part, we just have to donate.
