Memorial for Kira
Kira was born with a rare genetic disorder, but despite her dire diagnosis, she beat the odds at every turn. Doctors called her a "miracle". She raised the bar on the quality of life that can be expected for such a devastating condition (known as "glycine encephalopathy" or "nonketotic hyperglycemia") -- and no matter what obstacles were thrown her way, she met them with a smile knowing that she had the love of her Father at her side.
For seven years she was raised by her caring and determined Father, Jerrad Hales. He fought for her from the very beginning. She truly was and shall forever remain "Daddy's Little Girl".
On December 8th, 2016, Kira had an accident at school. An accident that cut her sweet life short. Infants and children diagnosed with this condition rarely live past age 8 -- the oldest known survivor was 23. But weeks prior to Kira's accident, she had had a checkup with her doctor: Not only was she doing great, but she was the best case for this condition that her doctor had ever seen. Needless to say, the tragic incident that followed left a living nightmare in its wake.
Kira spent her life confined to a wheelchair. She was unable to walk or to be able to voice her thoughts, but that didn't stop her from trying! Kira had the most endearing, heart-warming smile. Her smile is what she is best known for; that and the mutual admiration of Daughter and Father.
To her Father and everyone else that knew her, Kira was perfect. She had her own distinct personality that radiated regardless of her condition. She loved hard rock and metal music, horror movies (especially anything by Tim Burton), the color purple, and being held by Daddy.
Right now her Father could use your support. Any donations or words of comfort are greatly appreciated.
